Actually the topic about which you are writing should be intresting, original and unique. And should have proper keywords, so as your blog can come in first two pages of the any search engine. The first thing is that you have to learn seo techniques. You can read Grizly's blog makemoneyforbeginners.blogspot to learn about keywords and keywords density.
Basically, you have to make use of Google Adwords Keywords Tool, to find out what are the keywords that readers are searching for. For example, "credit card" is one set of keywords, "credit card debt" is another set of keywords, you will see how many people search for these two phases in a month.
Then you have to write your post with these keywords at average density of 3 to 7 percent. The number of keywords is another an important factor. Instead of writing 200 words post, with only 10 set of keywords, you should aim to write 1,000 words, so that you have 50 set of keywords.
Regular posting is good, however daily posting is not really necessary. Average of 3 times per week, a thousand words per post is good enough.
Then you have to submit your blog to blogs directories. You can search for "free blog directories submission", and submit your blog to as many directories as possible.
Join a few blogging communities, such as blogcatolog, technorati, and take part in the forum to learn from other bloggers.
You can use free pinging service to ping your blog, such as pingomatic, pingoat after you post every new post.
The next thing is to read other blogs, and leave comments. The fellow bloggers will read your blogs and leave comments too.

For every email that you sent to friends or others, use your blog as your signature. Some people will click on the link, out of curiosity.
Join some link exchanges (not traffic exchanges), whereby you can link to other websites, and others can link to you.
Stop using traffic exchange when you want to put up the Google Adsense. It is against Google's TOS to use traffic exchange.
Other methods include joining a few writing sites, such as Hubpages and Squidoo, and link the articles back to your blog. This is rather time consuming, but both sites are great for networking, plus extra earning opportunity using Google Adsense.

Blog views is something subjective. I have my own blog too, pointing on world wide recipe but no one had the interest to read it.Then, I create the musical blog by loading some short movies, likewise the Recipe.
Being a blogger, we would not know whats the reader interest as people changes mind every second. Probably you might need to find some books or friend who has experience success blogging.

It's all about the tags really and the topic of interest. I have a blog I think almost everyone does on mylot haha.. but yeah I can say it's a little hard getting views and stuff. I think if we all help each other spread news about our blogs. Like Posting links and what not on out blogs or other blogs. then we all van get more views.=] I don't know thats just my opinion

Sorry to not know the answer, but how do you make money off of blogging? Do you use a special site or something?

I'm not a pro, but so far from what I've read and tried out a bit, SEO is important. It's got to do with keywords and you have to choose the right keywords close to your contents as well as what is the general term.

Like if you are blogging about money, then make sure you put money-related keywords and very nearing to your contents. In that way, Google can spider out those into their ranks more easily.

Besides that, if you have networking sites like Facebook or Twitter, try posting your links and get some exposure. Friends whom are interested in your links will click and you may get traffic from there. But remember never to spam ever..
