Big Fish, a masterpiece from Tim Burton. Anyone agree? | | I know many people overlooked this movie because it is not a high profile or grandeur movie from Tim Burton. But this movie is exactly Tim Burton talent, a show that mix imagination and fantasy in life with a heartbreaking story. It told us a story of a son that came back to his family to look for his dying father. Their relationship strained cause his father always telling a story that fascinates people about his experience when he was young when he was a child but growing up, he was so fed up with all his stories and believe all those stories were a lie, even accuse his father that he cannot differ which one is reality and which one is illusion. The audience was taken to different places and exotic locations around the world, where young dad (played by Ewan McGregor) travel from China to a somewhere unknown village, met bizarre people and events, while at home his lover (and later on at the story become his wife) waiting for him coming back to his home. It is such an affectionate movie of people's life, a son and father (played by Albert Finney in older years) relationship and full of imagination, I wonder how those weird ideas of his life experience came from:) My favorite scene is when Albert Finner and his wife ( I think it was Jessica Lange) hug each other in the bathtub, it is a really touching and tearjerker moment in the movie. I really recommend this movie for you, go rent (or download) it now! Satisfaction guaranteed!

sophisticated_boy (533) | 5 months ago | Hmm, maybe because it tells the audience a more intimate and personal story which is about journey of a human and about relationship of a family, that's why maybe it's not as humourous as the other movie. But I still found the movie has a lot of humor because its exaggerated wild fantasy of the cahracter experience. I like Sleepy Hollow, but I just think it is a standard horror movie. Ed Wood is indeed one of his masterpiece. Another sample is Edward Scissorhands. I think he and Johnny Depp is creating a great collaboration, maybe that's why this two keep teaming for a movie
