When does frugal start just getting cheap? |
|
Or is it a good green idea to reuse those plastic bags to store frozen food in? I've tried it and it does a pretty good job. Is it being creative to find many uses for items we usually wouldn't reuse or just cheap? What is the best and worst ideas that you've tried for reusing plastic grocery bags or trash tie straps? Share your best ideas for using household items that normally would get recycled or tossed.

1. marguicha (3595) | 6 months ago | My idea of being frugal is to try to use everything in the best posible way. Sometimes that way means throwing it away. The time I spend doing something, and the results I get, have to be considered too. I do use almost new paper napkins after a party to scrape dishes. But I wouldn´t use them as napkins again. The plastic grocery bags I use to cover the small carbage cans I have at home. Then I pick them up and put them in the big one. This also helps my back. Happy posting

mrnowrench (259) | 6 months ago | I do some of those things too. Like the napkins to scrape plates and the plastic grocery bags I line small trash cans in the bathrooms with them. I think for me living in an Apartment for so long that it's second nature to reuse. And even if you make a good living its good that people reuse and recycle. And yes sometimes if it takes more time then its worth why do it? Good points I'm glad I'm not along when it comes down to reusing. Recycling I need to more though and I know it! Thanks and Happy MyLotting:)

2. lotterylover (4826) | 6 months ago | My wife reuses bags by taking them to the store for more groceries and puts whatever she doesn't use in the recycle bin. What is irritating is that careless people will thrown in garbage in these bins and the person responsible for taking the bags out will just throw them away. You need to be careful not to use bags that had meat in them. They should just be recycled for garbage or put in the recycle bin. Also, cloth ones need to be washed if you carried meat home in them.

mrnowrench (259) | 6 months ago | Good points and use common sense when reusing bags and rinse when you have meat in them. Yes I wish people would pay more attention but that's why I say that I need more education with recycling and proper etiquette when it comes to recycling. Thanks for your post. Happy MyLotting:)

mrnowrench (259) | 6 months ago | I like the idea of using the plastic bags for rope. Someone must have been watching McGyver. Oops I'm showing my age! I bet your could carry some water if you have put like 5 bags all inside of each other to make a stronger more leakproof container. But the first branch you hit. Bye Bye water. Thanks for the post. Happy MyLotting!:)
