Favorite work?

I like many of his plays but I think Hamlet is very modern so it´s probably my favorite.

Hi anna, the first one I ever read was Twelfth Night and retain a great affection for it. I think that my favourite though must be the tale of the moor, 'Othello'. I was also luky enough to see the acclaimed actor Ben Kingsley (star of Ghandi) play the part of Iago at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford upon Avon. Iago remains my favourite character in the play.

I think Hamlet is my favourite, although I love most of the plays. I saw Simon Russell Beale give a wonderful performance in the title role in Plymouth some years ago. The set was very minimalist - it was a Japanese director - and this allowed you to concentrate fully on the actors. I have the full length film version starring Kenneth Brannagh, and also the Laurence Olivier film.

I'd have to agree on Hamlet. I've seen it 4 times in person, and 5 different movies. I saw it once where they did it with only 7 actors (playing many different roles) and each of them got to play Hamlet for a while. It sounds difficult to follow, but not if you were familiar with the play.

The Tempest has been my default answer for years, it has magical aspects and is one of the few Shakespeare plays that seems to not have a large basis on another story, but I have to say after reading it, Henry V is gaining ground for me. Also Comedy of Errors gets some love because I performed a scene from it for class.
