Mercury is a neurotoxin and extraordinarily dangerous. You practically have to call a hazmat team just for clean up if you break one. Progress is only progress if we benefit in a real way. Making it mandatory that every household keeps hazardous products that could poison the whole family is not progress. It's a wild abuse of power that will achieve no desired end.

Wow good point... well the mercury bulbs I had to throw out because they were hurting my eyes something terrible and besides that I don't know why but they blow on me more than the regular lite bulbs... must be they just don't like me. Electric car I would never buy, I hope to get my aunts 1964 Lincoln continental... boy those old cars last so much longer... I don't know why but it seems all cars they make today are just throw aways they don't last long rust out quick are more difficult and more expensive to fix. We do have a dodge neon that has only 30,000 miles but it's already rusting on us up here with the winters and our old 1985 fifth avenue that was over 170,000 still looks beautiful and runs great... I wish we hadn't sold it but it went to a guy we know who really love that car. When you really think about it which is worse... to have a car made of good thick steel that lasts longer that may use more gas ... or have to change cars every few years because they are rust out or end up having a problem that you are better off buying a new car than spending the money to fix it. What really does more damage to the environment anymore. I do see the problem with coal... I really think we should do away with it I feel it does so much more damage for the environment then other resources. As for Cap and Trade I can't believe the idiots on capitol hill who actually think that it's a good idea let allow during this economic time period.
