and i am still shaking, OMG it was horrible, i was woke up by the sound of the kittens meawing (as usual) they have kept me awake alot lately, so like i always do i got up and checked on them, and i noticed that all the other kittens were feeding but there was one that was away from the litter laying on his own, he wasn't moving so i started to panic, i picked him up and he was still warm but he was limp, his head was flopped back and he wasn't breathing, there was no life in his at all and i didn't know what to do and started to panic, but my instinct told me to blow into his mouth so i and blew and kept on blowing for what seemed like forever, still no movement, so i wrapped him in a towel and kept rubbing him and blowing into his mouth more then his little paw twitched and he opened his mouth and made this funny noise, it took him a few seconds to open his eyes, but i do believe he was dying or he'd died, he is one of the bigger kittens and has been feeding fine, he's stronger than the other kittens too, so i cannot understand why this happened, it's not like he was pushed out of the litter or anything but my heart is still pounding right now, i really thought i'd lost him, once he'd come round i put him back with lottie and he started feeding again, i am wondering why this happened, lottie has been a bit restless lately and every time she feeds she meaws like she's in pain, i guess their little claws are hurting her teets when they nestle them into her, i was thinking, maybe she's killed this kitten, all kinds was going on in my head, but i swear that kitten was dead or on it's way to dying, jeez that was so scarey, i need to calm down because my hands are still shaking. i just hope he's ok now, he started to feed as soon as i put him back but that was one scarey moment for me. why did this happen? does anyone know? i am so glad that i woke up when i did because he could have been dead by morning and i wouldn't have been able to do anything to save him.

Thank goodness you did wake up and check on the kittens and that instinct told you to do a CPR type thing on the poor kitty. I have no idea what would have caused that though. I just hope the kittens in general are healthy. I've had my fair share of not too pleasant experiences with small kittens and often it was the result of a respiratory problem..I would do everything possible to help them but the poor things would die anywaycry...Now for instance, Lottie is a healthy kitty but you don't know the health of the "papa"--anyway hope the kitty is all right now, sounds like it since he's feeding again

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

well i have had a little bit of time to calm down and i just checked them again and they all seem fine, fast asleep all huddled together, jeez that was horrible, i have never done that before, the poor little thing was so limp, no life at all, his head was flopped back like his neck was broken, it was a hairy moment for me because i had no idea what i was doing, but it seemed to work what ever i did....the papa is a handsome healthy looking cat, he belongs to the family in the houses opposite my house, he always visits on a regular basis, but it's obvious he hasn't been neutered, the kittens are so like him, so i am assuming that he is the papa....jeez that was the most intense feeling i have ever had, lottie is laying outside their bed at the moment, but she is watching them, i just hope that i did enough for this kitten and it doesn't happen again, they seem ok now though.

I know it's a scary thing to have happen. I have had to do the same thing before. With him being one of the larger ones I have no idea why this happened to him. He may of been stepped on in the wrong way and it cut off his air just long enough to knock him out. Who knows dear. It's a good thing that you have had the mind to check on them at night.
You poor girl. I feel for you but it's alright now. Just keep an eye on that one and make sure he will be okay.

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

moon, is it possible that lottie may have layed on him and he was suffocating, i have noticed that she just plonks herself on top of them every now and then and i have to move them so they don't get hurt, what ever happened to that kitten, i got up just in time to save him, don't ask me why i did this, but i just felt that something wasn't right, it's like 5.43am here right now, i am usually out for the count, but i just had to get up...i hope this little one is ok now, he seems to be sleeping peacefully with his sibs, so maybe he had the wind knocked out of him, or maybe lottie had sat on him just long enough to go unconscious....i am just glad that i helped him, it would have been awful to wake up to find a dead kitten. sad they are all precious to me and i would hate anything to happen to them, especially at such a young age.

myLot reputation of 98/100. moondancer (2921)   ranked 22 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

Yes, tatty always listen to that nagging sixth sense you have. You'll be the better for it. I know I sure am and my family and friends learned long ago if I say something is going to happen it is, or if I say don't take this car today I have a feeling about it that it will break down, they know that somehow I know.
It would have been just awful for you to have lost a baby no matter how many litters you have it always way too hard to lose one of the babies.
I'm glad that you got up and checked on them.

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

i am glad that i got up too moon, it was not a nice thing to see, but i just used my better judgement and tried everything to revive the little mite, he seems great today, he's perky, he is feeding and he seems happy, but i am taking him to the vet on friday just to make sure there's no damage done, wow it was a scarey moment, my gut instinct told me to get up and check them, i am glad that i did now.

oh, gosh,I have no clue what happened, maybe he fell? I hope it wasn't Bean... I'm glad you found him and helped him, I know I was heart broken when little Soprano died and he/she was hurt by the weed whacker and never thrived like the other kittens. I was even saddened when Rose's kittens all died, but we didn't have her to help and they were so tiny.

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

it wasn't bean elic,(phew) it was one of the pure black kittens, he is much bigger than the rest of them, but i sure was shocked to see the poor thing laying there all lifeless, it was horrible, i just started to blow into his mouth and rub him till something happened, when i saw his paw twich i just carried on till he took a breath, now i am wide awake and worried that this little fella could be sick, i will see how he fares and if he seems weak then i will take him to the vet when it opens in the morning, mind you it is morning now, it's getting light, but the vets won't open till 9, it was a shocker to say the least, i am sorry about your kittens too, i treat animals like they are family and i would be devastated if any of them died...something just told me to get out of bed and check, i am so glad i did.

myLot reputation of 99/100. ElicBxn (15073)   ranked 17 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

Me too, tatty, me too! Gosh, how strange, I've honestly never had enough kittens around to know all that could go wrong.

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

me either elic, it was strange to say the least, i will check again later, they all seem to be sleeping now...but i cannot help worrying about that little one, it was so sad to see him like that. i had this vision of me digging a tiny grave in the garden where my other cats are buried, i didn't want to go and do that again. it would have broke my heart. sad

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

i think i will try and get some sleep now, i am exhausted after that little scenario, i will let you know how things are later on.... sad

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

well i have just checked on the kittens and they are all awake, happy and playful. even the one that almost died, he is sitting there just straing at me with them cute little kitten eyes and he looks so darn sweet, have decided to name him cookie, he's a strong little fella, just like a tough cookie, so that's his name for now, well until someone gives him a new home, it was a scarey moment there last night (or should i say this morning) it was around 5am when this happened, but i can announce that all of them are great including cookie.... happythumbup it still baffles me to why this happened though.

myLot reputation of 99/100. ElicBxn (15073)   ranked 17 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

Really, very strange. I hope he continues to thrive

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

so do i elic, i have just been given another name by dragon4u, he said lazarus would be a nice name so i have decided to call him lazarus cookie...lol...he seems fine today, he is sleeping now, maybe lottie squashed him and he lost consciousness, but i am glad he's ok, that was a hairy moment for me last night, i hope it never happens again.

myLot reputation of 99/100. ElicBxn (15073)   ranked 17 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

That's a great name! One of our kittens, Flower, was born dead, but the lady who's cat had her son picked her up and rubbed her and blew in her face until she started breathing. She's a bit more stand-off-ish than her sister, Blossom, but she's very sweet.

The pair of them are still TINY. Flower barely weighed enough to get spayed (4 lbs) at 8 months. Her sister was tipping the scale at 5 lbs at 8 months. They are over a year now, and still very small. Flower was standing next to one of the ferals and he/she was nearly as big as she is at about 3 months.

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

oh that's a sweet name (flower) i love it, and blossom, what cute names, talking of age, lottie was 1 year old yesterday, i forgot to mention that, i did get her some toys and a cat food cake and she walloped it down, she loved it, she is still a tiny little thing, i don't think she will grow any bigger, she was petite when i got her, so i am thinking that she will not grow bigger than she is now, i noticed this morning that her teets are pretty red, it seems that when they feed from her she meaws, so they must he scratching her teets because they do look sore, when i take the kitten to the vet on friday i will take her too, also make an appt to get her fixed AGAIN....lol....also get her teets looked at, they do look sore.

myLot reputation of 99/100. ElicBxn (15073)   ranked 17 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

she was named flower because she has a spot on her back that goes all the way down to her tail, like a skunk stripe... so she was named after the skunk in Bambi, then the lady said she hadn't named her sister, so I said "Blossom" because I'm just NOT going to work that hard on names any more. You have over 50 cats come thru and you wouldn't either. we name the litters in "themes" these days.

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

lol that's a great idea, usually when i get cats i give them human names, but this time i got the name lottie from tamarafireheart, she said call her lottie after mylot, so i did, max was named after a comedian that i like, i am not giving names to all of the kittens because they won't be here for that long, bean is named after mentalwards cat, i just love it and it suits him. lol....

myLot reputation of 99/100. ElicBxn (15073)   ranked 17 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

let me give you a few examples - when we got 3 rescued kittens, one was Siamese and we called her after a Chinese co-worker of mine - May, well since the game, Ping Pong opened up Red China back in the day, we decided to name the boys Ping (the smaller one) and Pong (the larger one). Then when we got Sophie and her 4 kittens, the roomie thought that the white-eared one looked kind of like the alien, Rygel, from Farscape from behind, so we named him that. Since "Rygel" is said the same as the star "Rigel" we gave the other kittens star names, "Andromeda" was the girl, "Sirius" and "Orion" were the brothers. No idea what Andromeda's name was changed to, but Sirius is now Felix and Orion is now Jack.

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

they all have wondeful names, i alays find it difficult to name cats, but i must look into cat names, i just love them names you gave to them cats, especially ping and pong....lol.....

myLot reputation of 99/100. ElicBxn (15073)   ranked 17 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

lol EVERYONE LOVES those names! And they were THROW away names! They were the names we gave them thinking they would be adopted.

And he's a little cutie, but then again, I have a soft spot in my head for black cats....

I wonder if kittens can have SIDS like humans can. But, another question - is your cat vaccinated? She does go outside and can be exposed to so many things. My cat had distemper, but wasn't showing symptoms, other than she was scraggly (she was a stray I took in who was already pregnant). Her kits kept dying, one by one. The vet said her milk was poison to them because of the distemper, so I put them with another cat who also had kittens while their mother was recovering with a shot of antibiotics. I couldn't save the first two or three, but the rest all survived. Poor little guy, though. You might just have brought him back from the brink.

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

what is SIDS jerz? i have never heard of that, lottie is vaccinated and she is in good health, but she does go out but never ventures out of the garden, i am just baffled to why this little fella keeled over like that, i was thinking, oh he could be in a deep sleep, but he was still, he wasn't even breathing, i am just glad that i had the sense to blow into his mouth, i have seen this done before on videos, so i thought i would give it a shot, i d believe i brought him back from the brink too, he may have been dying the minute i woke up, thank god i woke up when i did....that was lovely of you to put the kittens with another nursing cat, i always thought that they would reject them if they weren't her own, but it seems that she fed them without any problem, so glad that your cat got better, i hate to see sick animals, i always feel so helpless.

myLot reputation of 93/100. jerzgirl (2704)   ranked 21 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

SIDS is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Unexplained death that occurs while sleeping. No known cause.

The vet had his doubts about the other mother taking them in, but I'd seen them all interact and was sure there wouldn't be a problem. In fact, when the cat I have now had kittens back in 1994 at the same time her daughter did, they shared mothering duties, the kittens went back and forth between them. It's not as uncommon as people might imagine.

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

aaaaah ok, we call it cot death here, yeah that could have been the case, but i am not sure, i think lottie may have sat on hm, she has a habit of doing that, so he could have been restricted of some air, i have just checked on them and they are all fine, even for 2 weeks old they seem to be happy, the one that was dead is fine too, i have kept a close eye on him, he is doing great now, so i am happy that i woke when i did, it could have been a completely differet discussion today

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

yeh it was pretty scarey at the time i can tell you, but i managed to help him, today he's doing well, i just think that the mother cat may have sat on him and he couldn't breathe, but i am happy to say that all kittens are fine...thankyou....

Poor Tatty! I can imagine how you must feel!

Maybe animals also have SIDS? I can't think of anything that could have done that unless Mama rolled over on him for a few minutes and suffocated him then moved again.

I'm glad you knew the right thing to do! You can name him Lazarus, maybe.

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

hi dragon, yeah that sounds like a fab name, i was going to name him cookie, maybe i should give him a double barrel name and call him "lazarus cookie"...LOL..., he is doing extremely well, he is quite playful today, but what a shock to find him in that state early this morning, maybe lottie hadrolled on top of him, she has a habit of just flopping down so maybe he was restricted of oxygen, it was horrible and i was shaking so much, blowing into his mouth worked, so if this ever happens again, i know what to do....the poor little thing, i could have been writing a completely diffeent discussion today, so i am glad that there's a happy ending to this one.

7. myLot reputation of 98/100. mentalward (4214)   ranked 18 out of 405 in kittens   5 months ago

I can't tell you what happened, but you should make sure that Max stays away from the kittens. Males have been known to kill babies to force the female back into heat so they can mate.

I don't know if this is what happened or not but perhaps this kitten got caught underneath Lottie for too long and couldn't get enough oxygen, stopped breathing, and was pushed aside by either Lottie or the other kittens.

I still wouldn't count out Max as the possible culprit, though, because it's their nature.

You may be shaking and totally upset by this experience, but you've proven that you can handle emergencies just fine! Kudos to you, tatty! thumbup

If you want a more professional opinion, you should call the vet, explain what happened and see what they have to say. Perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea to take the kitten in to the vet, anyway, to have him checked out. This vet SHOULD see the kitten free of charge since there wouldn't be any kittens if he had a more competent staff!

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

i can say that max was locked in the other room mental, i never keep the door open when he's in the house, he has been great though, he has had a little sniff then he's walked away but at night i close the living room door so he doesn't go near them, even during the day he doesn't bother with them, he has his food then he's out again....so i can rule that out....i have made an appointment with the vet and the earliest i can see him is on friday, same vet as before, so he knows the score, by the way, his staff was fired...yep...maybe lottie has layed on top of this little one and suffocated him, but i was there to help him, i dunno why i got up but i just did, i was terrified, this was at 5 this morning, it's now 2.06 in the afteroon i have never done anything like this before, but it worked, i am just glad that i am not writing a different discussion today....i would be too upset

myLot reputation of 98/100. mentalward (4214)   ranked 18 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

I think you woke up because you've been the doting "other mother" since these kittens were born. You seem to be very in tune with them. It was probably that 'Mother's intuition' that made you wake up when you did.

I know exactly what you mean about being too upset to write if this had turned out badly. I had a dog a few decades ago who had 4 puppies. I was right with her while she gave birth. She was a great little momma, too.

After the second day, one of the pups appeared to be trying to nurse, then crying, over and over again. I took the pup to the vet when he was only 3 days old because this just didn't stop. The vet said that he either had severe colic or a blockage in his intestines. He told me to give the pup mineral oil to help "lubricate" his digestive system. If it was just constipation, this would clear it up.

But, the pup never got better. Apparently, he did have a major blockage in his intestines or his stomach was not attached to his intestines. His tummy got so large and bloated! I stayed up with him all night the last night, rubbing his little tummy. That seemed to make him feel a little better, but he died in my hands the next morning.

I was inconsolable! I had named him already and, because of his problem, I had become especially attached to him. My boyfriend at the time had to bury him for me because I simply could not do it.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO happy to hear that your little guy is eating and apparently healthy now! That was fast thinking on your part and certainly what 'Lazarus Cookie' needed!

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

oh that poor little pup, i hope he didn't suffer too much, it's heartbreaking to hear stories like that, but at least he was with you when he passed over, lararus cookie is fine, he's sleeping and he has been feeding, but what a shocker that was, i have an appt for the vet for friday morning, i wish it could be sooner but they are booked up tomorrow, but i will be the first to get seen, i just want to make sure that there was no damage done, when he wakes up i wll get some pics of him he is as cute as a button, i have not posted a blog for a few days so i need to update some stuff, all the other kittens are fine, they are cheeky little things, two of them are playful already, they seem to roll about together and play which is lovely. happywub

Awwww!!! He looks so precious!!! You know, if I lived near you, I'd have to take one of the kittens and I know I'd want HIM!

I know what it feels like to help make a difference, too. I think I mentioned once before here in myLot about what I did for my son's goldfish a long time ago. My son, the older one who has always worn his heart on his sleeve, had a goldfish who had gotten a piece of gravel stuck in his mouth while trying to scoop up some food that had drifted to the bottom of the tank.

My son was hysterical! He begged me to help his fish who "couldn't close his mouth!" I took some water from the tank and put it in a shallow bowl, put the fish in it, then tried to hold it still while I pulled the gravel out of his mouth with tweezers. It came out and the fish was fine. My son thought I was a miracle worker. LOL But, I must admit that I felt quite proud of myself for helping that fish.

You have every right to feel proud, especially every time that little guy looks at you with those sweet eyes! I hope everything checks out well on Friday. I have the feeling it will. Tatty, you saved his life! That's awesome!!!

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

oh wow, you saved a goldfishes life...how awesome, that's a great story...i shall call you doctor mental from now on...LOL....yeah i guess i did save his life, it could have been a whole different discussion today, he looks at me with them eyes and i jsut melt, he's so special and he was meant to be otherwise he would have died, definitely taking him to see the vet on friday though, just a quick check up to make sure he's ok, lottie needs to see the vet too, her nipple is red and swollen and every time the kittens feed she cries in pain, i can tell it's hurting her, she has all scratches in that area, their claws are getting sharp now...

myLot reputation of 98/100. mentalward (4214)   ranked 18 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

We're both doctors, then, Dr. Tatty! (Hey, shouldn't we be rich and driving Ferrari's around?)

Is it just one nipple that is red and swollen? It could be infected, if that's the case. The vet will know how to handle that, even if it means putting a bandage over that one. Typically, they do get red...ish, but she shouldn't be crying. It's obvious that there's an infection going on. I hope it's just that one!

If not, you may have to bottle feed the kittens until they're weaned. I have a video somewhere of my husband bottle-feeding his cat when she was a tiny kitten. Her mother disappeared for whatever reason and his kitten and her sister were found, alone, outside. Yeah, that beast of a husband of mine just loves his cat!

I've never done that with a kitten or puppy, but I've had to do that with baby birds when I was raising cockatiels, budgies and lovebirds, for numerous reasons. I had to hand-feed the (4) lovebird babies because the father was trying to kill one of them. (I heard that male lovebirds will try to kill the male offspring... why, I don't know unless they see them as a future competitor.) The (4) parakeet babies I had to hand-feed because their momma got into a fight with another one over the breeding box. (I had one huge cage that many birds shared, but different breeding boxes.) The momma bird was hurt, so I had to put her in the "hospital cage" and hand-raise the babies. The cockatiel babies I had to hand-feed because their momma died suddenly. I have no idea what happened, she was fine one minute and dead the next. So, I was raising 11 baby birds all at once. It was a nightmare! I got out of that business right after that. LOL

Hand-feeding kittens won't be so bad, if that's what you have to do. Just feed one at a time. They don't really drink much at each feeding, so each feeding will be just a few minutes. The vet or pet shop will have everything you need.

But, it might not come to that. I just told you all that in case it does. It's nothing to get nervous about. It's easy and actually fun to feed these babies.

Sounds like maybe both of us should have been vets, huh? I actually did want to go to vet school at one time. Keep me informed! I'll help as much as I can.

i have heard that cockatiels can have strokes at any time, i had 2 and one just fell of it's perch, when i took him to the vet he told me that the bird had had a stroke and wouldn't recover, so i had to pay for it to be put down it was really sad, hank was a character, (my other cockatiel) he used to whistle tunes off the telly and eat off my plate, he would rub his little head on my cheek when i was outting on my make up and when i had denis my other at it was comical because they did actually get on well and denis would sleep in hanks cage, then one day on my birthday, my ex left the window open and hank flew out, i never saw him again, i was mortified and gave my ex the heights of abuse, i never forgave him for that because i did ask him NOT to open any windows, but he did....

only one of lotties nipples are red and swollen, maybe i should put a plaster (band aid) over it after i have cleaned it, she does cry when they feed from it, it has scratches on it where the kittens have dug their little claws in, so i guess it may be infected, when they do feed off her teet, she does relax but at times she will let out a little cry, two kittens always fight to get to the same nipple so i think that's what's happened, they have cut her when they have fought to get to the nipple, i will sort it out, the vet knows best, by the way, my youngest son is in university studying vetinary practice, this is his 3rd year now, he knows alot about animals so i do ask his advice every now and then, pity he's so far away, he could have helped me out with lottie.....the baby kittie...lazarus cookie is fine, he's sleeping....AGAIN.....but if i have to hand feed them then this is what i will do so lottie can have a rest, so thankyou for all this advice, i take everything on board what everyone says to me about my cats, it's like a learning curve, i learn something new every day...lol, dr tatty, i remember my ex used to call me nurse roberts...lol...long story... whistle

Oh tatty, I was shocked to read your discussion just now about you giving CPR to one of your little kittens. That must have been such a scare for you. How is he now?
Do you think you ought to take him to the vet anyway - just to have him checked out? Best to be on the safe side, otherwise you wont sleep tonight because you'll be watching to make sure Lottie doesn't lie on him - if that's what originally happened.
Please keep us up to date with the little one's progress.

hi abbey, the earliest appointment i have is friday morning, he cannot be seen till then, so i will be keeping a close eye on him until i take him to the vet, i just need peace of mind and make sure he's ok, lottie could well have sat on him, she has done this before, but at the time, it was panic, then calm, as soon as i started blowing into his mouth, i thought, jeez this little one is already dead and i got very upset, i was on my own too, but then his little paw twitched and he opened his mouth and made a funny noise, then he was awake, it took time but i did it, i am just glad that i woke up when i did, i would have been devastated to have found him today all cold and dead, so in a way i think something told me to wake, i did hear the kittens meawing and like normal, i did get up, but i was just going to leave lottie to deal with them but i couldn't relax so i got up....it could have been a completely different story today abbey, i am just glad that this one has a happy ending. happy

Your instincts served you well tatty, waking up when you did to find the little one not breathing. You will be on pins until you see the vet on Friday and I'm so glad you are getting him checked out; you just never know with new-borns. especially the first week of their lives.
You should be feeling proud of yourself, handling an emergency the way you did.
I pray that everything runs smoothly from now on with your little bundles of joy!

How is the kitten doing since you last posted? I hope the kitten is still doing well.
I don't know what would cause such a thing but know it's not uncommon for some of the kittens in the litter to not survive.
I'm glad you were able to save this lil kitty. My hubby once did CPR on his gerbil cause I think the gerbil was accidentally dropped in the toilet.

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

oh wow, how did the gerbil get into the toilet...i am glad that your hubby saved it...the kitten is fine today but i have an appt to see the vet for friday morning, just to make sure he's ok, it was scarey though, i tried my best and it worked, i have never had a cat wh's had kittens before so i was not sure what to do, i just tried everything i could, and it seemed to have done the job, the littens ar 15 days old today and they ar growing fast, they are starting to look like proper cats now because their eyes are open nd they are mor alert, but this little fella needs a check up so i will take him to the vet on friday, i cannot get an earlier appointment, he seems fine now, he's feeding and he's alert....

Hi Tatty. I think that you are probably right in thinking that Lottie lay on him and suffocated him. But you certainly did a good job of dealing with the emergency though and did just the right thing to revive him. Well done! thumbup

it was a scarey moment but i dealt with it the best way i could, once he started to move i thought...phew....that was close, but today they all seem to be fine, taking the little one to the vet on friday along with lottie, one of her teets is red and swollen so i am thinking that the little ones have scratched her when they have been feeding, i hope it's nothing too serious, all babies are fine today, even little lazarus cookie...yep that's his name...sweet heh? lol....

You are calling Lazarus "he", so have you managed to work out how many boys and girls you have yet? And you're right, he is lovely and very young to have used up one of his nine lives already!

myLot reputation of 98/100. tattylashes (4295)   ranked 8 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

yes this little one is a boy, i think i have 4 boys and 2 girls, not sure really, but lazarus is a boy for definite, i have named him lazarus cookie.(for now) because of his little experience he had last night, so who ever takes him can either keep the name or change it.....yeah it seems that he has used up one of his lives already, but he seems to be a little fighter, i am sure he'll grow to be a big strong cat in time.

myLot reputation of 95/100. jwfarrimond (2403)   ranked 20 out of 405 in kittens  5 months ago

From his size already, I'd say that he is defenitely a male happy If I got him, I'd defenitely keep the name. thumbup

I'd like to come and see him sometime when he's bigger - maybe in a months time, and we can discuss collection arrangements in person at the same time if that's OK with you.
