| 1. chuanton (11) | 5 months ago | Hi...! for me i do not have sleepers for the visitors and i won't let them in the house with their shoes on. as everyone walks bare foot in my house. The guests know that they have to leave their outside the house or at the doorway on the shoe rack. if u have the problem of asking them to remove thier shoes then i guess u should gather all the shoes and put them outside the door to let them know that no shoes are allowed. lol. Happy mylotting and have a nice day....hope u can solve the problem soon..^^

2. thea09 (4197) | 5 months ago | Hi icesmile, this is interesting as I'm not really sure what sleepers are, obviously you are offering some form of alternative foot wear but what is it? Now I don't have this problem with shoes in the house as I don't have any carpets down, the house is completely tiled. I do expect people to remove them though if it it has been raining hard and they have inevitably got the local red mud on their shoes as it is murder to remove from the tiles. I would like to be barefoot in the house in summer but am always wary that something nasty may have wandered in and I might inadvertently stand on it, I've only actually had a large centipede come inside once but it has put me off the shoeless state so in summer I wear sandals.

thea09 (4197) | 5 months ago | Hi icesmile, I really didn't know what sleepers were. Now I know thanks from your picture. We call them flip flops. Sleepers sound more like slippers which are sort of furry things we wear in winter in the house to keep our feet warm.

thea09 (4197) | 5 months ago | Oh believe me icesmile I was in no way criticising your English, I think it is great that people use English as a second language on here. And now I've taught you a new word 'flip-flops'. In our culture we don't offer any form of indoor footwear to guests, if it is winter and they need to take shoes off they have to come in in their socks.

RawBill1 (550) | 5 months ago | It seems every country has a different word for this kind of footwear. In Australia, we call them Thongs!
In New Zealand, they call them Jandels!

thea09 (4197) | 5 months ago | Well thongs are skimpy ladies underwear here.

4. skyhss (424) | 5 months ago | my carpet is only about a year old and i don't want it completely ruined so i make people take their shoes off. now if i could just teach my dogs to wipe their feet better, i 'd be really happy. my family and friends have been very understanding and don't argue with any more about having to walk around the house with no shoes on.

5. chrissa808 (153) | 5 months ago | I like to go barefooted when inside the house.I feel so comfortable with it. However, there are a lot of people who use slippers at home. I think it depends on family culture. As for the visitors, I offer then slippers everytime they come inside our house and gladly they remove their shoes. But I do respect whichever is there preference. Thank you. Happy mylotting!

6. jules67 (1888) | 5 months ago | When I am home, I want to feel comfortable that is why I prefer to wear sleepers. But then with regard to visitors, I find it ok if they wear shoes inside the house. If the shoes are dirty, we have a rag right in front of the door for them to wipe before coming inside the house.

7. Youreyes4Today (847) | 5 months ago | I like to go outside and inside without shoes. Yep I rather go barefoot unless I go out then do wear shoes and I do around here as well. Just most of the time I am without.
As far as guests or being a guest in someone's home I do make sure that if they would like shoes removed, I sometimes just do it out of habit. Shows respect for the home you are about to enter.
In our home, well will just say it wouldn't matter if you left your shoes on or not. The floors are in bad shape and the landlord has no intention of fixing them either. Can't afford to buy rugs to cover the problems either. So as with other problems going on here I don't invite people over much at all. Unless they know the situation here.

9. nonersays (151) | 5 months ago | Around my house and most of my familys houses I take my shoes off and go barefoot. Its not because they dont WANT shoes in their house, its just more comfortable and most of them go shoeless as well.
We are taking the carpet out of our house and will have wood floors. Even with our carpet it never mattered to me if people kept their shoes on or took them off.
I did have one friend who wanted you to take your shoes off before you came in her house, and it was really annoying for me when I had on my tennis shoes, to have to untie them, and then put them back on and tie them again when I was ready to leave. Not as annoying if I was wearing step ins.
