Well that's it, looks like I'm going to lose my home |
|
Once again, a reminder has come through the door. Seems the council tax hasn't been paid for 3 months, but again the bills have been opened by my "partner" and hidden so I knew nothing about it. It's the 2nd bill to have to come out of the emergency fund this month, and I think it's the 4th this year. This is the account our mortgage comes out of, and its now cleaned out.
When the mortgage rate rises later this year or early next year, we're not going to be able to afford it. But that's ok, I'm sure he will just ignore it and hope it goes away, like he does with all his other debts. And when our house is repossessed and my kids don't have a roof over their heads, he'll complain about how unfair the world is to him.

caragh2608 (1015) | 5 months ago | Thanks. He is just so immature. I get that its a pride thing, hiding from me the fact that he can't provide for us, but there's no pride in having to take pity money from my family and I can't stand it!

3. KrauseHome (13407) | 5 months ago | Wow!! This would be a hard thing to deal with for sure. I think sometimes people tend to think the Best way to not deal with something is hide the Bills and maybe they will all go away. I wonder how come they never want to step up and face the music as well. But one day they will wake up and hopefully it will not be too late for sure.
I am wishing the Best for you, and hope somehow you can catch on this next time to what he is trying to do and be able to save your home. Personally this is not a good situation to be in, but I know if you really Pray about it good things could come in time.

4. hairypits (212) | 5 months ago | the best thing you can do is rather than hide from the problem is to discuss it with the mortgage company and see if there is anything they can come up with. They need putting in the picture and can be very helpful.
I have to say though, having a history in financial services makes me question who on earth has sold you a mortgage that you may not be able to afford should the rate go up. Might be time to have a re jig with your mortgage and find another lender and see if you can get a lower rate/monthly payment. Use an independant Financial Advisor as they have access to ALL of the products available on the market rather than going to a bank and only seeing what THEY have available.
Citizens advice are also a great help x

5. maximax8 (10380) | 5 months ago | I suggest you go to speck to your local Citizens Advice Office to get some advice. You might be able to look to see if you are getting the right amount of child tax credit. People on a low income can get council tax benefit. If you get your mortgage back on track before the rate goes up you could change to a different mortgage like one fixed with a low rate for two years. Good luck.

6. awhitehill (162) | 4 months ago | There is the Obama mortgage think I can't remember the name of it, but you can get your mortgage lowered to what you can pay if you qualify. Do a search on it. Or see if your lender can help you by starting a loan modification application. I've started mine. Sent stuff in. Recently received a mortgage statement say we have about 8k loan adjustment, I don't know what that is. Our interest rate or mortgage payment hasn't changed, so it's a mystery. Call consumer credit counseling in your local area too. Be in charge. So sorry to hear of your situation. I'd be pretty upset too.
