Many people didn't even finish high school

I agree, high school should be finished, but then again there are usually good reasons why they can't be finished. Everyone has a different life with different circumstances. What if you have to feed your siblings because your parents are dead or disabled and can't work. What if your parents never really cared about you, and are into drugs instead making it hard for you to have some priorities. Home life can be very hard for some students. My brother dropped out because my mother is disabled and he felt kind of shattered when all the jobs for the area he was preparing for were all gone, he went on to get his diploma another way and now works for the government. My mother did not graduate school because she got pregnant and also had to take care of her family when her father died, which included her 3 younger sisters, with that kindness they all went to graduate. She got her GED and now is a realtor. Sometimes the kids in school can be really horrible, and some feel like they need to get away from it. I don't think that students are necessarily lazy or spoiled, but many are instead underprivileged.

lot of studnets now dont really see how important education is anymore. many of them are spoiled, or they think they can just live with their parents' house the rest of their life. additionally, they think all those government programs will help keep them living.

frankly, these people are just a liability to our education system. they are the reason that we put so much money into getting these studnets to graduate that the students that acually want to study are forced to pay out of their own pockets.

Because maybe, they are just too relax and never worry about thier future.

You are taking about finishing High School! Well I never started it. I stayed home and helped with the farm work. My Dad bought me a car and gave me 10 dollars a week. I always had a nice car and money in my pocket. That was 1951! My God where have the years gone? I've been illiterate all my life, having missed High School, and all that! Sad isn't it? I never learned a trade or anything. Damn! what a wasted life! I can't remember my future - maybe I never had one~

I know exactly what you are talking about! When my husband and I were looking for a house a few years ago when my stepson was 17, we passed up a house I really liked because it was in the wrong school district for him to finish his last year of high school. We bought a house in the correct district that was a real fixer upper because it was all we could afford. We have no money to do the fixing up. Anyway, the kid turned 18 6 months later and dropped out with a semester to go.
Now he is 22 and unemployed. He has part of his GED but just can't be bothered to go take the constitution test to finish it. I am just so frustrated with his behavior.
He just doesn't seem to get it. He is starting to somewhat now. He has no money and I am sure not going to give it to him. He is an adult and better start acting like one.

That is true. those lazy students affecting other serious and weaker students alike. when your peers are like that, you will also feel lazy. People need be a little stricter, it could be the teacher parent's or school administrator job. I know cos I live near a public high school. These students are from poor families whose parents are uneducated, and working hard to give them money everyday for transportation,meals and school projects. But these students are there in the store idling, smoking, even smoking weeds; hang out on internet cafe, and gambling. The local government money is wasted, all seem nonsense. they get diploma and graduate knowing nothing but nonsense, no one valued education even the kind of education they get is poor they should at least be grateful. without it they are all poorer illiterate.

No offense, but maybe students in highschool don't finish because it's just too hard to get along in highschool. You don't know the kind of struggle it is to fit in. Especially if you don't know who you are. Maybe if you got rid of the bullies and made everyone on the level instead of the popular crowd, the punks and whatever else comes next. Let students be proud of their differences and have them show them off.

While I do agree that there are some bad apples, there are also personal circumstances that can pull kids out of school.

Many kids will quit school and work so their family has income. And in these days of a dwindling economy? Its essential to make any money you can. Kids will also work if their parent or guardian is disabled and needs help. Its a very kind thing to do.

Some people think the world is gonna end in 3 years, so why waste time learning? It sounds silly... but I've heard it.

Oh well. Theres always a chance to go back. Or earn your GED. Educational options have opened quite a bit over the years. We're very lucky for that.

hello and i dono about foreign education,here in prc it's common ppl don't finish high school or even lower,parents and teachers r strict so that they force students 2 study higher,even so,there r 2 many who don't wanna get better education.

I think education is up to the individual. Someone must decide if they want to stay in it or not. I do think the education system needs to be changed for the better. It is not geared towards people's individual needs.
