July 24,2009: Another Ethics Complaint Dismissed | | Barack Obama could learn one very important lesson from Sarah Palin how to be a honest politician, this is the 16-17 investigation since John McCain taped her for his running mate she has been completly cleared of any wrong doing in all complains, way to go Sarah.
(Gov Sarah Palin)
July 24, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – The Personnel Board has announced that another ethics complaint against Governor Sarah Palin has been dismissed.
The complaint, the sixth filed by Anchorage resident Andree McLeod, accused the governor of violating the Ethics Act by receiving her salary while campaigning for vice president. The accusation, lodged Monday, was dismissed as legally flawed and factually devoid of merit.
Governor Palin remained on duty, conducted state business, and communicated with her staff and her constituents. “Andree McLeod has failed to prevail on any of the ethics complaints she has filed against the governor,” said Mike Nizich, Palin’s chief of staff. “It appears her agenda is clear – she’s abusing the ethics laws to harass public officials.”

Women should be uniting and supporting a fine person like Sarah. Unfortunately, we have a lot women who just don't get it. If they had pulled together we would have had McCain as a president in 2009 and Sarah as President of the USA in 2012. However, it is not too last for people to learn a lesson. We could still have her for President in 2012. I cannot even believe we have women who are so against her. It must be jealousy.

anniepa (9271) | 6 months ago | Are you saying all women should just vote for Palin simply because she's a woman whether we agree with her on any of the issues or even trust her or not? I realize McCain likely was made to pick her because she's a woman and somebody had the idea she'd pull in some of Hillary's supporters but from what those I talked to during the campaign said they were very offended by that. Women didn't fight just to get the right to vote not all that long ago so they could blindly follow someone based on gender and abandon their own principles. Anyway, what if she WERE the Vice President and had decided she couldn't handle it and was just going to QUIT that job, too? Annie

happyness3 (296) | 6 months ago | Remember why she quit though, she quit because of how much money all these ethics complaints were costing her state, and she didn't want the Alaskan tax money spent that way. I have voted for her twice now, and would do it again. She is a smart and savvy woman, and the media portrayed her all wrong. Living in the states now, (I am from Alaska), I realize what a skewed reality people have of it up there.

heathcliff (791) | 6 months ago | "Smart and savvy" enough to have created the very law that her bashers are using against her. She is either getting karma fo pushing legislation she wanted to use against her enemies or she is such a poor politician that she failed to anticipate this would happen. Either way she is far from the "Goddess" so many people want to make her out to be. We must take into account not all the accusations against her are completely spurious.
Everyone needs to take the time to read the entire list of allegations and the compiled evidence to see how close some of these are to being actual violations. If we rely on that one ethics board to do all the work then we are being poor participants in our democracy.

Yestheypayme2dothis (3198) | 6 months ago | Happyness, these people have a closed mind. They are so jealous of her. They cannot be reasoned with. They prefer to see bad in Sarah. I say we give them an island...and let Obama rule them. Everyone gets a hut, some wood for cooking(no food, though, sorry), health care( a few Band-aids--the more children you have the more Band-aids you get). Sarah 2012!!!!!!

|
|
heathcliff (791) | 6 months ago | A "closed mind" would be the one unable to see any good in Obama or any bad in Palin. I see evidence of this closed mind alot, especially in your statement here. We can't always get who we want in positions of political power but we can keep a close eye on them and work compromises to eventually get a better world. Running away to an island with Obama OR Palin in charge would never work out: it takes all kinds and unwavering commitment to monitor our leaders!
CONSTANT VIGIL!

anniepa (9271) | 6 months ago | If there are people who are just looking for the bad in Palin there are just as many who blindly believe she can do NO wrong! Nobody is as perfect as some of Palin's "fans" believe her to be. You know, I really don't like using words such as "star" or "fan" when it comes to political figures because their role is much more serious than merely entertaining us or impressing us with their beauty and talent but the reaction to Sarah Palin from the moment McCain introduced her has been more like what a Paris Hilton or Britney Spears would get than a Hillary Clinton! I guess the difference is Paris Hilton had a more detailed energy plan than Sarah...lol!
The main reason I posted here again was that YTPM2DT didn't address what I said above about if women should just automatically support another woman just because of her gender regardless of the issues. I'm hoping very much to see a female V.P. or hopefully President in my lifetime but I'm not going to blindly support anyone based on gender alone anymore than I'd have supported anyone based on something like race, ethnicity or religion. WHEN we finally have a woman in one of the highest positions in our country I want her to do us proud and truly make a difference that I and my daughter and granddaughter as well as the male members of my family can believe in. kennyrose (4061) | 6 months ago | happyness3 I think your a Alaska women and better then any one in this discussion understnad the people and the politics of Alaska. Family members of ours lived in Fairbanks 27 year's last summer they sold there home and moved to the lower 48 because of poor health of a family member in the lower forty eight, their five children happily choose to remained in Alaska. I lived in Anchorage AK this gave me very good insight, then the people that have never even visited the awesome state of Alaska. This complaint filed by this liberal gal has been dismissed same as all the other ones, these people are paid by the democrat party and Obama to break any one that has the gut's to oppose Barack Obama. Any one that could possibly defend any party or person doing this kind of evil stuff is questionable human beings in my opinion. I oppose any party for this kind of corrupted political behavior period. I voted for McCain because I knew he was an American citizen, I would never place my county and it's people no matter the color of their skin in harms way by voting for a person that refuses to present their citizenship to all of the American people. Far as Gov Sarah Palin all my family supports her in politics as well in her her private life. We having family and freinds in Alaska and we all know Gov Palin has been a most outstanding governor and very likely the best in all of Alaska history,on the record doing more for the women of Alaska then any governor has ever done for the women of Alaska. Thanks for telling it as it really is in Alaska and joining my discussion.....Rose

This Andree McLeod person should be made to pay the bills that it's costing to defend these frivolous lawsuits!

heathcliff (791) | 6 months ago | Palin should pay for pushing the poorly worded ethics legislation in the first place. McLeod is just using the tool Palin gave her, in the exact spirit with which it was meant to be used.

| | 3. anniepa (9271) | 6 months ago | When did McCain tape her? Do you mean as in "recorded" or with duct tape...lol? To the topic - nice try, Rose, but President Obama isn't about to quit. By the way, you're not quite accurate because Palin was found to have abused her powers in the "troopergate" investigation. She didn't do anything "illegal" but it was an ethic violation. Annie

Taskr36 (4637) | 6 months ago | I still say that was garbage because "she" didn't do anything. They were blaming her for what her husband did, which was to put pressure on people to fire a rogue state trooper who tasered a child. How would you feel if someone charged you with something your husband had done? They were overstepping their bounds just so they could make her look bad.
| |
|
|
happyness3 (296) | 6 months ago | Not only that, but he hit her sister on more than one occasion. That man shouldn't have been a trooper, and the only reason anyone even said anything about it, was because they were related by marriage. If anyone else had been govenor, no one would have thought twice about it!
| |
|
|
heathcliff (791) | 6 months ago | Taskr, Palin, not her husband, was directly responsible for firing the man who refused to fire the officer in question. Bringing up allegations against the guy would have been fine, but when her office found out the Public Safety Commissioner wasn't going to dismiss the officer just on her say, she fired the Commissioner. The Comissioner was the one who would have been responsible for researching the allegations and determining the officer's status.
It WAS ruled an ethics violation so everyone who says all the allegations have been proven unfounded are clearly wrong. Also, the allegations of "Troopergate" started a month before she was picked to run on the Republican ticket so it is wrong to blame all of her ethics complaints on her later National attention.

anniepa (9271) | 6 months ago | "They were blaming her for what her husband did, which was to put pressure on people to fire a rogue state trooper who tasered a child." Taskr, that may well be true but Todd isn't and wasn't the governor so what authority did HE have to "put pressure" on anyone regarding state matters? It would seem to me that some may consider it an "abuse of power" to let her husband get involved in something like this. Annie

Taskr36 (4637) | 5 months ago | "Taskr, Palin, not her husband, was directly responsible for firing the man who refused to fire the officer in question."
Yes and what they did determine was that the firing itself did NOT violate any ethics at all and that she had every right to fire him as an "at-will" employee. That was what "Troopergate" was about. They overstepped their bounds by addressing issues with her husband that were not part of the ethics complaint.
"when her office found out the Public Safety Commissioner wasn't going to dismiss the officer just on her say, she fired the Commissioner"
That's not how it happened at all. She stated that it was over budget issues. The panel reviewing it did not find any proof to the contrary.
"Taskr, that may well be true but Todd isn't and wasn't the governor so what authority did HE have to "put pressure" on anyone regarding state matters?"
He had the same rights to complain and "put pressure" that any other citizen would have. I have every right to do the same thing if I like and I don't think my wife should be bothered over what I, as an independent adult human being, choose to do.
