This GUY has away with WOEDS. |
|
I like to read short stories, I never have been into books. So I find the Newspaper and small items of interest to read. Now there is this GUY in America who has his say and places it up on a BILL BOARD, so when he feels the need he will post his feelings for all to see.
Let me share one of the with you that he posted and see what you think about this.
"US Constitution in English. Bill of Rights in English. If you don't want to speak English, Please feel free to go back to the sh*t hole of a Country you left behind.
I'm Australian and I must agree with him, I say often "When in Rome do as the Romans do", to me thats a good rule.
If I am in your Country as a Guest then I should show total respect to your customs and abide with them, as I feel you should also do that when you Visit my Country.
How's your feelings on this, please post them and tell us what you think about it all.

2. rosdimy (1909) | 6 months ago | It should be. Even in my culture there is a saying on this matter. Roughly translated it means "When in a goat pen, bleat; when in a barn, moo". Effectively it means we should learn the language of the host country.
The same thing applies in relation to the customs of the host country. As I see it nowadays many guests try to force their way of life on the host country. I do not see anything wrong in keeping to our beliefs, as long as we respect the beliefs and customs of other people.
The sad thing is when they do not get what they demanded, they scream 'discrimination'. Some even turn violent to put their point across.

hiccup (6650) | 6 months ago | I feel you and I think alike, I see in your profile you are from Malaysia and I am Australian.
But we do agree that when we are the Guest then we should live by our Hosts rules. There are those who do not want to do this when they are the Guest and they do make much trouble and they have away about them that they blame the Host as the Monster when in fact it is them who is the Monster.
You are wise in what you say in your comment.

hiccup (6650) | 6 months ago | A Friend from Malaysia said the same things, His culture and mine are different but we agree on this. The Guest should understand their place when they are with the Host.
The word RESPECT should be applied by the Guest in the presence of the Host.

ANTIQUELADY (11588) | 6 months ago | I agree. I don't know why people can try to take over your country when they move there but seems like they get more perks than the people who were born & raised here. I THINK IT'S RIDICULOUS that our goverment has allowed this. HAVE a good weekend.

4. dragon54u (9788) | 6 months ago | I totally agree with you! My country has pushed aside its citizens' language, culture and borders to accommodate anyone that wants to come here and NOT be part of the nation. We used to be a melting pot where everyone pulled together and respected each other. Now we are a nation of multiple languages and in many communities we don't dare ring our church bells for fear of "offending" another religion! We provide translators free of charge for illegal aliens who have committed crimes and we publish all public documents in dozens of languages.
We're almost done, here. Stick a fork in us and serve us up to the world for dinner.

hiccup (6650) | 6 months ago | Part of Political Correctness that has gone mad.
As it looks each Culture does not want this but the Guest seem to demand it no matter where they go, they seem to believe it is their right.
They have no cares for the Host, It's time all Cultures put a stop to this and made the Guest abide the RULES of the Host (Nation).
If we read some of the comments here from our Friends each say the same, and each is from a different culture.

hiccup (6650) | 6 months ago | Each Culture is saying the same thing, so it looks as though it is the GUEST in our Countries who is the pain in the BUTT,
These people, not all of them but a few who are making these demands. and our Politician are kissing Butt at our cost, We suffer for their actions.

hiccup (6650) | 6 months ago | Here in myLot we have many here who do try to use English in the written word, and we must complement then on that as this task is not easy, But I am sure If these people traveled and came to an English speaking Country they would not be the ones who complain that they can not use their native tongue in everyday life in this new Country.
These friends are saying the same as we are about the GUEST in a Country. So the bulk of us here think alike.

hiccup (6650) | 6 months ago | It's not about those who try to use the NEW Country's language but about those who are defiant and demand they do most or all dealings in the old language.
This is not only in an English speaking Countries, but could be also in China, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, We are the GUEST when we are in these Countries and we should use the Common languages of that Country.
We do not have the right to demand that we speak our Native tongue in our Host's Country. (no matter what Culture that we are.)

Well I do agree with him, in this country people have come over here and seems to take over our country with their demands and this goverment are to soft, the foreigners do what they like and if an English has to what they want its an outcry, we have more temples here then churches now and its spot the Englishman here. An Enlish man home its its castle, not anymore its not.

8. savypat (7879) | 6 months ago | A lot of Americans feel that people who become citizens should speak, write and read English. As a tax payer I must admit that I resent having to pay for bilingual printing of such things as Voter pamphlets and ballets. If you are going to vote, read it in English.

hiccup (6650) | 6 months ago | Try sending in a Tax return in English in China, Malaysia, Japan, then play the same game that you can not speak or write or understand thier written word.
If you can make money in that Country you had better understand what is spoken.

hiccup (6650) | 6 months ago | I'm sure if you did visit Italy or France you would try to speak some of their language,
To me it makes common sense to do this, You are the Guest in that Country, and by not doing this or just denial of it is Rude to your Host Country in every way.

| Vitality (33) | 6 months ago | I think the man with the bulletin board could have used language less rude and inflammatory, but his sentiment was correct. If a person decides to make a long-term or permanent residence in a country they are agreeing to accept the laws, language, customs and culture of that country. I think diversity strengths, enlightens and educates all involved when handled correctly. No one group has dominion over the others, but an established culture, government and language must be respected or resentment and intolerance are the result. I think those merely visiting as tourists need not 'know' the language although it makes for a more pleasant visit if you do. Most people are willing to help those visiting in any way they can. We need a single official language and all those wishing to live here should have to do so legally and learn to speak the official language. I would never dream of moving abroad and demanding the schools offer classes for my children in their native tongue or all health and government services be available to me in English. That sounds and is ABSURD. Why doesn't it sound just as absurd to our Congressmen here.
