Do you stroke your baby to sleep?

You say stroke and it makes me think of a term that is used for that word in the opposite spectrum. LOL anways, I have many a nights went a laid down and my daughter will lay down just right in order for me to rub her back. She likes for to give her massages and she'll even let me do her legs as well. She gets cramps and stuff at times just like we do and shes just now learning when to say something about it. I know that they criticized Michael Jackson for the kids sleeping in his bed and on the floor, but mine sleeps in my bed with me right beside me sometimes. She even roots me out of the bed if she roles over far enough. I try to wake her long enough to move her then get back to sleep. I just don't see anything wrong it. Massaging her back to me is something that helps her fall to sleep when she gets ready for it.

I pat my boy to sleep until he turns one and a half and refused to let me touch him when he wants to sleep. But he cant seem to be able to close his eyes. He tends to stare into space for half an hour before finally dozing off. One day, I helped him to close his eyes by giving him an eye-shade to use! And he has been using eye-shade since then. But back to your topic, I love stroking them when they're asleep. Kids look the most adorable when they are sleeping. I just cant help myself from stroking or kissing them! I'll kiss my boy from head to toe!

when my toddler was a baby he has this liking for having his little bottom lightly patted before he goes to sleep. this of course sends him to dreamland. he's 3 now and isn't fond anymore of this old habit of his.

I love to have body contacts with my baby too. I like to rub his head, massage his body, hands and legs after his bath. I usually do not stroke him when he feels asleep, I'll pat his back or buttock if he wanna sleep but can't fall asleep.

Physical touch, stroke, massage, etc. makes one relaxed. I can imagine how contented a baby is going to sleep with a backing by somebody he relies on. At the age of six, my grandson is still asking a hand of his mom before going to sleep. He feels the love, which helps him go to sleep in a couple of minutes.

I am alike you too.when my kid was a baby, i liked to stroke his bum.When he grows now.He likes me scratch his back before sleeping.

when my babies was only few months old, I used to pat them to go to sleep. Sometimes I would stroke their head and hair true. I agree with you, they can go asleep faster with the patting or stroking. But now they are quite independent, Most of the time they can sleep on their own without mummy patting and stroking. But they still need me to accompany them to go to bed.

This what " a mothers touch",my youngest son is 10 yrs.old now but still sleeps with me sometimes.Maybe becoz he missed being pampered like,stroking his hair,rubbing his back,and he really loves to be embraced when he is sleeping.He sleeps with me 3 or 4 nights in a week.. .
I still stroke and rub,or massage my kids even if they are grown ups now.Every night before i go to bed,i checked their rooms and touched their cheeks,hairs and then kissed them goodnight.

ohhh...i am missing my little babies now that they are grown ups

Hello cwong77 this is checkmail and tough don't have a baby myself, have some nephews and nieces.When they wake in between their sleep i use to stroke them a little on their head, chest or back and they sleep again, that really very cool.Sometimes even when i am too tense and having an headache i ask my mom to keep me stroking on my head to get relief from the headache.
