Do you take your time in the mornings? |
|
Are you a person who gets up in the morning, leaving yourself plenty of time to shower, get dressed, primp yourself, and have breakfast before you head out the door to work? Or are you like me, prepping as much as you can the night before so you can hit that snooze one last time, get up throw on cloths, quickly wash face, brush hair and teeth and run out the door hoping not to be late?
I just cannot drag myself out of bed in the morning, particularly if i have to head to work.. I have better luck if it is an activity or something i am off to that i am going to enjoy, but still, it is hard. I go so far as to shower the night before, set out my entire outfit for the next day so that when i get up i can just thrown on my clothes and not have to rummage around, wondering what i am going to wear.
I often wish i could change this, as i think my day would get off to a much better start if i had some time to actually wake up and get ready for the day, instead of rushing out the door within 20 minutes of crawling out of bed.
How about you?

1. kcoregon (238) | 5 months ago | You know I used to be the type who had trouble getting up in the morning and so I would try to prep as much as I could the night before to get the kids off to school, as I do not work outside the home. But lately I seem to be the opposite. I get up early before the alarm goes off and I find its nice to have that time to myself in the morning. I can go on mylot, check email, and play a bit of games before having to wake the kids and such.

fruitcakeliz (846) | 5 months ago | I can imagine having that little bit of peace, quiet and solitude before the hectic rush of getting your children out the door really gets your day off to the right start. I don't think i have ever in my life gotten up BEFORE my alarm goes off! If it is my day off, i just don't set an alarm and get up when ever i wake up, though even then if it is early in the morning i will just roll over and go back to sleep.

2. KarissaAngel (101) | 5 months ago | Yeap that's me! I am the person who gets up at the same time every morning have a couple cups of coffee while watching the news, play with the cats the go take my shower, primp and even have time to change my clothes twice if I need to.
I don't particularly have breakfast in the morning as I am more of a mid-day eater. I must have my lunch.
I also give myself plenty of travel time for work just in case something unforeseen happens. If I get to work early I will listen to the radio for awhile and have another cup of coffee. I drink specialty coffee so I take my own carafe of coffee.

fruitcakeliz (846) | 5 months ago | I wish i were that ambitious! Morning just come so darned early! Once a week i work the later shift, and don't have to be to work until 2 in the afternoon. I like those days because i can sleep in a little later (no getting up at 6 a.m. yay!) and still have plenty of time to shower, do something a little more special with my hair and makeup...have lunch and check emails and relax a bit before heading out. But i don't like the fact that i don't get out of work until 10:30 those days, as then the day is over, yet i am wide awake from work, but there is nothing really to go out and do that late.

fruitcakeliz (846) | 5 months ago | That is similar to how i feel on the days that i don't have to go in to work until later in the afternoon. I get up and get ready, then have this extra time before i have to leave, but even if i have things to do around the house, i can't get myself motivated to do them, as i know i have to go to work too. Yet at the same time, i feel as though it is wasting an entire day, as then i won't get home until too late to do anything! So i guess, like you, i'd rather get up and out the door as quickly as possible, then use my time after work (if i am not too tired) to get other activities done.

5. ERich79 (339) | 5 months ago | yes i am the person that wakes up a little bit earlier in the morning if I have to work, If I don't then I will just sleep in but anyways I will have to have plenty of time to shower, eat a good breakfast, go on the computer and watch tv. But doing all that will make me be happier throughout the day and if I ran out my house after just waking up I will be all flustered and I will have a bad day. Waking up real early really does suck because I usually go to bed pretty late and I will only get a couple hours of sleep but that is the real world to a young person like me.

fruitcakeliz (846) | 5 months ago | I am a late night person too, which probably contributes to my hatred of getting out of bed in the morning.
Luckily i have never been a big "I must have breakfast in the morning" person. I find that even ondays off, when i get up in the morning, it takes a couple of hours for my appetite to wake up as well. I do enjoy a good breakfast on these days though. If i have the day off, it is not unusual for me to make myself a nice omelett, or some french toast or pancakes or something, but it winds up being more like a brunch as i don't get hungry until like 11 a.m.

6. puddytat101 (530) | 5 months ago | I don't even want to get up in the mornings! However, I think it's because I work night shift. I live like a bat! When I do wake up, it takes me forever to get out from underneath the covers. It's like an abyss of comfort.

fruitcakeliz (846) | 5 months ago | I can only imagine what kind of sleep issues working the night shift can cause. Have you been doing it for long? As i know eventually people get into a routine and can handle it, but often when people switch to a third shift position, they have a really hard time adjusting.
mmm abyss of comfort, what a nice way od describing it..i love it. It is even harder to pull yourself out of that cocoon of blankets in the winter time when you are so cozy warm inside, and know it is chilly out of bed, isn't it?

7. WilliamC87 (144) | 5 months ago | i usually try to wake up with plenty enough time to do everything and usually have plenty of time....sometimes im so slow in the mourning tho that no matter how much time i give myself i dont get everything done....a hour half asleep seems to go by in no time...even tho i dont spend a whole lot of time in the shower so i wake up about an hour and half before i have to leave...this give me a half an hour in the shower, and half an hour to brush my teeth, get dressed, clean ears, clip fingernails if need it and comb my hair.... then i have about a half an hour to grab some breakfest before i leave....usually my shower goes about 45 mins because im still half asleep....then getting ready takes longer because im still waking up, and nothing seems to be going like it should....then i got about 5 to 10 mins to grabs some food quickly before my ride for work get here....
i give myself plenty of time im just a slow person in the mourning....and a deep sleeper so its takes me alot longer to fully wake up....

fruitcakeliz (846) | 5 months ago | I couldnt even begin to tell you how many times my alarm has gone of, and i have mistkenly turned it off as opossed to hitting the snooze feature, and thus winding up getting out of bed even later than plnned, sometimes resulting in my being late for work. Luckily i have my routine down pretty well and can be up and out the door in under 20 minutes. Good for you that even if you miss your breakfast at home, you have the ability to eat it at the office when you get there, even if i were a breakfast eater, i would not have the ability to do that at my job.
| |
|
|
|
fruitcakeliz (846) | 5 months ago | Then i can certainly see why it would be important! I try not to be late as well, though it is usually not noticed or commented on if i am only a few minutes late, and i generally wind up making up the time i miss in the morning PLUS some by the end of the day!
good luck on your goal to acheive that status!

9. kevchua (753) | 5 months ago | No, I'd wake up BEFORE the alarm rings, then wait for it to ring before I get up on my feet, stretch a bit, head to the bathroom, change, and go to work. I wouldn't even wake my wife up - I don't wish to disturb her sleep. It's been like this since I was in school!! I need to be early to beat the heavy traffic, and get a good parking spot. I'd rather wake up and leave early than being stressed due to traffic. I don't rush or make a dash, though...like Dagwood Bumstead (from the cartoon strip "Blondie"), I just do things quickly.

fruitcakeliz (846) | 5 months ago | It is so kind of you to be considerate and not wake your wife up, if she doesn't need to be up that early. I sometimes find it hard not to wake up my boyfriend if he is over, that is part of why i set my clothes out the night before, and leave them in a pile on the bathroom counter or something, so that i don't have to turn on the light in the bedroom and risk awakening him. I hadn't thought abuot that cartoon strip in a while, yes, i do suppose that is more what i look like in the morning, racing around and ushing out the door.

| 10. coralfeng (5) | 5 months ago | Although i always make my mind to be a person like that, actually i am not.I am a late night person,so it's the terrible thing to get up early especially during the summer vacation.I kown it's unhealthy lifestyle, then every night i'll tell myself to go to bed early.Sometimes it really worked. In a sense,I prefer for the days at school,go to bed early and get up early (compared with the vacation).

fruitcakeliz (846) | 5 months ago | The day does seem to get strated off on a better foot when you have some sort of routine to stick to, doesn't it? But then again, if you can 't spoil yourself during the summer or on the one or two days a week you can...then life's no fun*lol*
