Renting home and long lease in recession

We were looking to move from our current place to a home which will be near to office.

And all apartments have issues over the Lease-
:-6 months to 1yrs lease
:-If we move out before lease is over
--We have to pay $250 fine
--We have to pay 2 months rent
--We have to search new renters
--We have to pay full rent for the lease time left

etc etc

Is this correct? We don't know whether our job is safe tomm when we leave office today,how to guarantee we will live at one place for long, we need to move where job is....

We cannot say to employer, I hv leased the apartment for 13 months, give me job near by!!

I see what you are saying I think a years lease nowadays is way too long but it also protects us as renters when it comes to the rental price and so forth. I just wish I could afford a home but there comes a lot of responiablity when owning verses renting. I say count your blessings and hope for the best you could be homeless I have been there too and that is far worse than worrying about say rent every month verse everyday:) Take care and happy mylotting to you. happy

They may be exploiting renters, but they are trying to cover their butts in the recession too. Imagine being in their shoes. It would be difficult to get people to stay and if they cannot rent the apartments out then they have no income too.
