There were a lot of emotional and sad scenes in this movie. Did you cry watching it? At what part/s?

No the green mile did not make me cry because I have not seen this movie and I would not cry because some movies are fake and some are based on true stories and only god knows if this movie is based on a true story or not.

myLot reputation of 80/100. anna728 (572)   ranked 1 out of 36 in the green mile  3 years ago

Haha why answer if you have never seen the movie. Oh well. I don't really cry from a movie based on whether it's true. I certainly have no impression that The Green Mile is true. I cried in the movie just because the story and the characters move me.

myLot reputation of 97/100. jonjee0203 (4680)  1 year ago

I love this movie. It has that supernatural element to make it stand out. This is not the everyday run of the mile film. It is well acted, directed and screen-played. I love the way Tom acted as the detail head. The little mouse, Mr Jinggles provide a worthy side-plot.happy

yeah, it did make me cry. i cried when the officer/guard stamped on the mouse, the mouse was the guy's only friend!! and i cried at the end when the put him in the electric chair. it's really a very sad movie. it's so good though, i never get tired of it.

myLot reputation of 80/100. anna728 (572)   ranked 1 out of 36 in the green mile  3 years ago

Oh yes the mouse! There were several parts that I found sad, too.

myLot reputation of 97/100. jonjee0203 (4680)  1 year ago

A movie that started without anything in sight except the goings-on at death row started building up into one of the greatest movie I have seen in a long while. That they can tie up the sub-plots together in the final 10 minutes is wonderful.

It is rather sad when you outlive your family and friends because of the supernatural element that got into you. Mr. Jingles also had longevity. What a twist of the plot in the fading minutes.

I recommend this movie!happy

i'd recommend it too, it is such a good movie, they're all such good actors too!

I cried hysterically at the ending of the green mile. It was really hard to watch. I really wanted to see him let off and I felt so horrible for him! My mother and I both had a crying fest together. xD

myLot reputation of 80/100. anna728 (572)   ranked 1 out of 36 in the green mile  3 years ago

Me too! And at some other parts! I wanted to save him!

Yes, my daughter MADE me watch this movie. I didn't want to watch it, because I heard it was sad. It was a good movie, but we both cried hysterically at the end.

So did I!

myLot reputation of 97/100. jonjee0203 (4680)  1 year ago

Yes, generally a sad story of innocence on the part of Coffey. Who is this man? Why was his innocence not proven. Was it the cause of bigotry in those pre-war days? Did he came into the Green Mile to right the wrongs done to him? Interesting plot-lines. I love this movie as it can keep the suspense until the very end.happy

Yes, I always almost cried at somem parts, but when it ended, when I found that he died, I cried for real.
What a nice movie really.

myLot reputation of 80/100. anna728 (572)   ranked 1 out of 36 in the green mile  3 years ago

yeah I thought it was very moving

myLot reputation of 97/100. jonjee0203 (4680)  1 year ago

Yes, life is not a bed of roses. Justice may be elusive as we can see in the case of the innocence of Coffey. While we emphatize with Coffey, we knew that he would not escaped from the execution on the electric chair.

That the security detail could handle their jobs well all the while spoke volumes for them. They were stoic when Devereux was literally burnt to death through the electrocution process. However, they were in tears when Coffee was executed.

That speaks so much for the human condition.confused

I cried in the Green Mile. I cried when one of the characters died. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen this but if you havn't, what are you waiting for?

myLot reputation of 80/100. anna728 (572)   ranked 1 out of 36 in the green mile  3 years ago

That's right- everyone watch!

myLot reputation of 97/100. jonjee0203 (4680)  1 year ago

It would be very difficult to comment on the movie. You have to see it to appreciate it. It is a melancholic movie with unnecessary deaths. However, there is a silver lining. I won't tell you that. Go get the DVD and have fun!happy

The first time I watched this I did cry. Without ruining it for anyone that hasn't seen it, I cried towards the end when John Coffey goes on the green mile for his last walk.
I often thought that they could have made a prequel to this movie about Coffey's early life. You know how, what, why, when. It's always interested me in how he became what he was and where he family the same. Has anyone else ever wondered?

myLot reputation of 80/100. anna728 (572)   ranked 1 out of 36 in the green mile  3 years ago

Huh I never really thought about it but I think would be pretty interesting. The movie didn't really go into it, so I think you're right- that would make for an interesting prequel.

myLot reputation of 99/100. purplealabaster (3666)  3 years ago

I have always wondered about that, too. I think that would make a great movie, and I would definitely go to see it. They would have to keep the same actor as John Coffey, though, except of course in the younger scenes that he obviously couldn't play.

myLot reputation of 80/100. anna728 (572)   ranked 1 out of 36 in the green mile  3 years ago

Yeah, it would have to be the same actor for sure. He has such a presence- and where else would you find someone so big anyway?

myLot reputation of 95/100. kelly10 (431)   ranked 2 out of 36 in the green mile  3 years ago

I may write the prequel and then let the makers of the orignal buy it off me and give 10% of all future royalties. Well we can all dream can't we!
I just glad that it wasn't me left with all these questions.

myLot reputation of 99/100. purplealabaster (3666)  3 years ago

Kelly, if you write the prequel, then you are going to let us get a sneak-preview, right? It just wouldn't be right to make us wait until the movie comes out to find out the answers to all our questions - lol!

andyman45 (1)  3 years ago

i cried so much at the end when john coffey said dont put me in the dark i's a scared of the dark nd he got executed it was so sad at the end!

myLot reputation of 80/100. anna728 (572)   ranked 1 out of 36 in the green mile  3 years ago

Yeah Coffey was so easy to feel bad for! He's such a big, strong man but everything about him was so sad, he was like a giant, innocent child.

myLot reputation of 95/100. kelly10 (431)   ranked 2 out of 36 in the green mile  3 years ago

I may start writing for TV and movies as I'm coming up with so many ideas. I watch the dectective show Monk and always thought they should do Monk The Childhood Years and guess what? They've just done Young Monk in the US and have finished filming.

My ideas really do seem to be worth something so I think that it's about time that I shared them with the people that matter. You never know I may be a millionaire sooner then I thought!

Makes me cry every time I watch it. That is what is so good about Stephen King. His characters are so strong and believable. I read the book and cried, I watched it at the cinema and cried, I watched it on DVD and cried and when it was on television. I am now crying again watching it on BluRay. John has just gone for a ride to see the governors wife. I will cry again when John meets the end and when he watches a movie. Top Hat. "Heaven, I'm in Heaven" Probably never would have heard this song if not for The Green Mile. Very poignant to the movie. Beautiful.

Well, a prequel will more be focused on John Coffey. So someone who have to write about him and his exploits. He must have succeeded in helping humankind until the time of the murder of the two girls which he finally went to the Green Mile walk to death. We can start to tell the story why he could not save the girl and finally has to lose his own life.surrender

The Green Mile is certainly a movie to be treasured. After seeing it on the TV, I went out and buy a DVD. I have watched it a couple of times. Each time, I could see snippets I was not aware at the first few viewings. Great movie!happy

It's very hard for me to cry at fictional things like films and such. I'm not sure why, because I don't have the "thickest of skins" whenit comes to real-life scenarios. I felt so sorry for big John Coffi (or however you spell it) when he was being executed, because nobody except the prison guards knew the truth about him, and the emotion on his and Tom Hanks' face was so powerful, it made that scene one of the most memorable in cinematic history for methumbup
