I just cannot believe my eyes. I just read that Walt Disney World is raising their already sky high prices yet again. It comes out to about a $5.00 increase for every ticket purchased, whether child's rate or adult's rate.
They are having that celebration this year where on your birthday you can attend the park for free but we have yet to be able to afford to go this year, and it is August already. We have had 2 birthdays out of 6 in our family already and 2 more next month in September. The last 2 birthdays for us will be in December. It sure would be nice to be able to go in either September or December.
I am trying my best to scrimp and save in order to be able to afford going there this year. This new twist of events certainly doesn't help me out very much...
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

They will never get a dime of my money because I think they are so overpriced already. Its suppose to be for the kids how do they get away with charging an arm and a leg. Now the prices are going to be increased. All I can say is GREED. Especially with the economy the way it is they have the nerve to do this. Again all I can say is GREED and dispicable.

There really is no place like Disneyland or Disneyworld and every child should be able to experience it. However it is so expensive that it has been about 7 years since we went. And we only live about 2 hours away from Disneyworld.
Thanks for your comment and have a great day!

a birthday party at home cost enough as it is Think it cost us around $200 for CHeys 4th birthday that was with all the trimmings here at home maybe more that was just for cake and decorations.
Let them be satisfied with doing it at home!

Wow! $200 for a cake and decorations? That's crazy too! I always get the cake at Sam's Club or make it and then the decorations I get at the local Dollar Tree. I have to try to save as much as possible as I have 4 children myself.

So...I came across your discussion today again. I was wondering...did you ever get to go to Disney World yet?
I hope you did. Let us know.

Well....yes we actually did! Just this March when we got our income tax refund we set aside some of the money and bought annual passes for the family. We have made 3 separate trips so far this year and at least the admission to the park has been covered. Now I just need to worry about gas, food, and hotel for the trips. But the most expensive part - the tickets has been covered.
I am very glad we did this. It is basically our vacation for the year.

Well I have never been to Disney World but I know it has never been real cheap. I look at this way if you got the money to take a trip then thats great I guess but if you dont than you can't. If the child is free on their birthday than I guess that is one less ticket you have to pay for and should help the budget a little. Thanks for sharing this info and happy mylotting to you. I hope when you go you all have fun. Happy mylotting as well.

You have a point there. Well it has been over 6 months and we have not been able to save enough to afford it yet. This economy is so lousy that I am just happy that we have food to eat and a place to live and electricity to run everything. Hopefull this will be a better year for us all and maybe I will be able to take my kids this year.
Thanks for your comment and happy myLotting!!!

Regardless of the rise in ticket price, Walt Disney World is constantly introducing different promotions, many of which can easily offset the increase in ticket price itself. For example, you can check out the stay 4 nights and get 1 night free promotion or the dining plans, etc.

That is true but you really have to save up then and plan to go more than 1 day to save anything. I am used to just going and making a day of it, not actually planning my yearly vacation to just go to an amusement park. I guess that's because I grew up with all the amusement parks in California and Florida in my backyard.

I think Walt Disney World is already overpriced. In this recession that the world has I guess they have raised their prices due to having less visitors. Families like you will need to save even more money to go there. I think the weather would be lovely in December and September might be hurricane season. I hope that you will have a wonderful trip there.

Well, unfortunately it is now the middle of January and we still didn't make it to Disneyworld!
Oh well, there are really more important things in life like rent, electricity, groceries, etc. LOL! I am hoping maybe this year we will be able to make it there. I know that they currently have 4 days for $99 for 4 parks for Florida residents. Well, we shall see as that would be $600 for all of my children and me and my husband. That is just admission, add to that the cost of hotel and food.
Well, maybe...

I suppose everything has to go up with all the prices of gas etc...they have to have their little cut too! Wouldn't it be nice though if they would jump on the bandwagon with all the other places that are offering incentives to come and enjoy your vacation with them? Like all the deals on cruises?

They're going to price themselves right out of the market if they're not careful. I can't understand why people go there anyway, spending outrageous amounts of money to get on a few rides and see people in costumes. We really need to adjust our views of vacations and entertainment. I would not be unhappy if Disney World and other parks closed.

I love Disney World, it is just that it is so expensive to go there. I have to admit that in my lifetime I have only been a handful of times but I always love going. It is just going to take saving up for it. And I have 4 children and my kids just love it too. Oh well...

Dear schulzie,
An increased of USD5.00 is a substantial amount of money!
With this economic slow down, people are tightening their belt,
checking the expenses and on budget...is Walt Disney making a right move?
Perhaps they are targeting those on high income brackets, higher earners!
Thank God I've visited Walt Disney in August 2007...this meant we have save
quite an amount. We are from Malaysia..we need 3.56RM to buy 1USD..
that will cost us a lot! We truly enjoyed our trip to Walt Disney, Orlando.
The best theme park in the world...love it but it is very far from Malaysia.
The nearest is Disneyland Hong Kong!
Btw, you better start to plan now... some fellow myLotters has very good
responses at my topic "What do you do with your loose coins?" Many of them
manage to keep the loose coins in the jar and the coins accumulated managed
to bring one family to Disneyland for vacation. So,...go & check how much do
you have in your jar /jug with loose coins (if you have one). They said you
will be surprised to find out the amount that was accumulated inside!
All the best and wish you have a wonderful time in Walt Disney World!
Keep myLotting and earn more for your trip, do keep in touch..

It's been 6 months since I started this topic and sadly we are no closer to going to Disneyworld now than we were six months ago. This economic situation is just awful for everyone everywhere. I am hoping that 2010 is much better for me and my family and for everyone else as well.
