She's on very thin ice!!! | | I am really trying to be patient with her but yet some of the things she is doing she is really pushing it with me big time. I recently gave birth to our 5th and last child we finally got to bring her home saturday and ever since then our dog has been displaying some behavior that I very well dont approve of I had to spend about two weeks in the hospital because of complaications from an emercgcy c section and during that time the dog managed to tear up one of our blinds on our windows and now that we are both home everytime the baby cries she barks at her plus she tries to get into the trash becuase of the diappers that we now have. We have resorted in putting the dog in her cage at night and when we are gone I dont know what else to do with her. Im trying to be patient with her like I said but yet at the same time my baby is more important if she doesnt straighten up soon I will have no choice but to find a new home for the dog. Does anyone have any suggestions to try to help the dog first before I have to resort to that?

Yes, that is how they tell their own, so it makes sense. Wouldn't hurt to try it, and it might settle the dog down. That could be why the dog is getting in to the diapers, she wants to id the person in her home.

Our dog is very naughty while we are out. We confine him to the back porch during that time. He can't get in trouble there and he has plenty of room to move around (unlike in his crate). Can you confine the dog to one room? Maybe the laundry room or a large bathroom? It just may take him time to get used to the new member of the family.... good luck!:)

I think maybe it's just a matter of adjustment....the dog probably isn't getting the kind of attention he is used to so bad behavior get him some attention....I don't know how long it will go on for you...but I think in just a bit everyone including the dog will adjust. Hopefully for you it all works out! I know it must be a pain watching the dog and taking care of a newborn!

She is jealous now that your new baby has come home. I think you could say a gentle "no" when your dog barks at your baby when she is crying. You might be able to put the nappies in a rubbish bag where your dog can't get to it. In a sure in a few weeks she will get used to the new addition to your family.
I spent four nights in hospital because when my baby was born I lost two and a half liters of blood. I was really weak and kept fainting. My dogs had my mum move in to care for my son whilst I was in hospital. Since I came home my dogs are alright with my baby girl. However my toddler son is really jealous of her. My dogs bark at first light in the morning to be fed. That is a problem and the weather is poor. It is raining non stop at the moment.
Good luck with your dog and your patience. I really hope you manage to get rid of your dog's poor behavior.

| | 5. jaizhi (167) | 5 months ago | Hi Christylynn... Congratulations on your new born baby. And I am sorry about your dog problem. I agree with some of the responses I think the dog is jealous of the attention the baby is getting thats why it is also trying to get your attention by messing around. I would suggest give the dog time as well. Talk to the dog and try to pamper her for an hour just show her that you are not forgetting her. I wish you dog the best and hopes she wont be given to other home,
