Baby names

I have never considered this, but I do know people have used maiden names for middle names. It is actually a lot more common than you may think. If my son had been a girl, I was going to name him after my father who passed in 2004.

I wouldn't, because none of the maiden names in my family would work. Its cute though, and a nice way of honouring the family. I knew a guy once who had the same first name and last name, because his parents wanted something that honoured the family. I thought that was a bit over the top though!

It's a really neat idea to carry on all of the family names, but it wouldn't have been a possibility for our family. My maiden name was Lynch and that just wouldn't be a cool first name, nor would Hankey, my mother's maiden name. And we didn't have to worry about my mother-in-law's maiden name because it is the last name that we carry.

Give a good name for a baby and hoping a goodness for a baby. I think that someone's name is a pray and hope.

I named my daughter with 2 middle names. They are both family names. We could not agree on one so she got 2.

in our custom, we do not have "family name", we only carry our fathers name a bit - so it will be Sanjana d/o X - "d/o stands for daughter of" -

my child will be y s/o z - "s/o stands for son of" and z is my husbands name ...

But the common practice is to have - our fathers or grandfathers first name (mostly of husbands side) for the sons, and our mothers or grandmothers first name (mostly of husbands side) for the daughters.

The joke is, when we have function and we call Mr M - almost in every family there will be one Mr M ---

We are currently changing this practice, as the old traditional names sounds not suitable for this modern time (all the names which sounds like Blacky, Nosey, Birdy) i have seen parents comming up with new unique names, combination of both parents first names
