We are almost at the same boat. I do not socialize either. Instead, I find pleasure in meeting people online to answer that need. My love of reading has made me accept that things in life can still be enjoyed even in a vicarious way. Your father may be over cautious because he does not want you to get hurt. I used to feel too bad about how my parents have seemed to be over protecting me. Then, came a time when I realized what is really behind those bars they put around me. It was all for my good. You do not need to risk yourself to understand the dirty tricks the world outside your reading zone. You can add more options to your reading habits. Try to widen your choices. Emily Dickinson also locked herself up though there are tidbits saying she wondered out of her garden. Yet, she was able to comprehend the life outside her walls.
