OPK’s (Other People’s Kids)   

i dont mind other peoples kids but i find that other people tend to use a store as a babysitter while they look around. i remember when my kids were little, i didnt let them run around like crazy but a lot of parents seem to do this.

My son would LOVE you! I really have to watch him as he's SO much like me. Never meets a stranger and always wanted to reach out and get their attention by touching their arm. I think I've only seen him react negatively to one person whom he'd just met. I must say that person was then on my "to watch" list. If MY son was leary of him then by damn I'm leary of him too!

People love him, in stores and restaurants. He spends more time talking and cutting up with adults than he does trying to get the attention of other kids. He can be an ornery lil toot sometimes, but he's such a funloving little guy. People are already attracted to him. I just hope he doesn't pick politics.

I love to smile at anybody, kids or adults and yea...it's fun cause you don't have to take them home. heee

This is exactly the way I spend my time while waiting in the check out queue. It was amazing when I was living in Thailand, as many of those kids have never seen whits skinned people. Words couldn't be exchanged, but kids, where ever thay are smile and laugh at the same faces and gestures. That's the best part of shopping. It makes you wonder what in the life of a child changes them from happy toddlers into violent teens.

Sometimes the smallest things can make our day huh! My opinion of OPK's runs the gamut and depends highly on their activities at the moment of interaction. Sounds like you had a few quality moments!

I like making faces at babies, but I don't relate too well to other people's kids. Just my own kids. I'm not warm and fuzzy or whatever. The kid has to be an extrovert to get anywhere near me if it's an older kid.

i'm not real fond of children but even i have to smile back when there's some kid in a shopping cart smiling at me. i wouldn't say i hate kids i just don't know what to do with them...i love my nieces and nephews but i also get to give them back to their parents when i'm done spoiling them.

Two years ago I was baby-sitter to an OPK for two weeks at the seaside in their home with the child's grandmother who looked after everything else except him. It was heaven! He was just over 3 years old. I didn't meet him or his parents until the day I started the job. He knew I was arriving that was all and we all hoped it was going to work out.

I arrived at their home on the Sunday morning, met by his father at the station and then his mother once I arrived at their home. He was no-where to be seen. After a few minutes with them they called him to meet me. He wasn't the least bit interested and when he finally came indoors from the garden he presented me with... a worm!

He then went back to whatever it was he was doing in the garden and I went to unpack my things. Among them was bucket and spade and other stuff for the beach for him. So I asked out loud where this boy called Francesco was... nothing I changed the phrase and said I had something in my case for a boy of that name... and he came running and we were friends! - and I'm not sure who had the best time, him or me, during that two weeks

I love other people's children and get on with them like a house on fire. They are so happy and if they are not, it only takes such a small thing, even only a smile, to make them smile too. They don't have problems like grown-ups do and that is why I enjoy them so much!

Didn't you already do this discussion before or am I losing my mind?

I like kids in general. They are cute, often funny and just so special. However, as a very bias mom, I like my own kids better then others

Don't you just love other people's kids we can spoil them and give them back..I don't have any children but I have had my fair share of keeping kids,babysitting,caring,and other stuff..I bet you made that little fellers day too..It is good that you did that. Not alot of people do..but who can resist a smile and big beautiful eyes? Gets us right in the heart every time.

I love OPKs Kids are a real trip because they can be so funny. Babies always seem to like me, but that may be because we share something (no teeth)
And the best part is that they go their way and I go mine. No worries with these kids
