Martha Stewart has always been a very savvy person and knows how to capitalize on the opportunities presented to her. Even though she committed a crime which landed her in prison, I don't think she had full knowledge of what she was doing to break the law, I think she was following the advice of some people who knew how to make money and maybe even be a bit sneaky about it but I don't think crime is her thing. I know she felt humiliated at the thought of having to go to jail but then she knows how to make the best of a bad situation and that is what she did. Someone as famous as her with the impeccable reputation she had, just being accused of a crime, let alone being convicted and going to jail is extremely stressful and degrading so that was more punishment for her than the actual jail time. While incarcerated many people do their best work because they have nothing else to distract them. One thing she knows how to do well is make money so she had all the time in the world to increase her earnings.
