He says that the Blue-Ray players have much better quality. If you ask me they are always going to come out with something supposedly better then the last thing that came out just so you can spend more money. Our DVD player works just fine & I think the picture is quite clear as it is. I see no reason to buy a Blue-Ray player, but you know men & their toys....LOL

Certainly not enough to go out and spend all sorts of extra money on.
Also, I've been told that the only real reason to get blu-ray is if you have a large screen HDTV because then it might look better than dvd, but otherwise it's basically the same. I'm not sure how true that is since I've never had a blu-ray player, but my large tv cost more than enough and everything looks good on it as is, so we don't really feel the need to go out and spend extra money for it, especially since we don't own a DVD player, we just play DVDs off our computer.

Last week I traded in over 300 of my dvd's that I have collected over the years and now only buy blu ray movies. They are not that expensive now either in fact many blu ray releases are cheaper than the cost of Dvd's when they were new.
Just for an example I bought the girlfriend sex and the city on DVD when it first came out it cost £16.99 the blu ray version is currently around £14.99.The Picture quality is so much better and if you have a home cinema sound system then it's just like being at the movies.
Bluray at home is better quality than watching a 35mm print at the cinema obviously your screen is smaller but the quality being digital is pure. we have a digital projector at work and thats the only screen I will watch films in as the quality is like blu ray.

Sometimes I get so frustrated I want to rip the thing out and drag out our old DVD player. We've had to bring the thing back to Best Buy twice to update it. Seems that since it's a Sony, it won't connect to our Macs to update.
Blu-Ray discs are supposed to have fewer problems with skipping, stopping, etc., but we have problems with just about every disc from Netflix unless we wipe them down with window cleaner.
I don't see much different between the Blu-Ray discs and regular DVDs -- at least not enough to justify all the aggravation.
