Help me decide on a name! |
|
My daughter is due in 3 weeks and I need help with the name! Her father wanted the name Sophie, so I am wanting to go with that. But, my dad (who places high priority on giving children 'normal and 'real' names) says that Sophie isn't a name itself-- It's a diminutive of Sophia. I'd be happy putting Sophia on the birth certificate and just calling her Sophie, except that I don't think Sophia goes well with my middle name- Ann.
So, I was thinking about using her father's middle name- Lee. But spelling it a more feminine way, such as Lea, Leah, or Leigh. I don't know which of these is the 'correct' spelling of the female version of Lee! t.t
So what do you think? Sophie Ann, Sophia Ann, Sophia Lee, Sophia Leah, etc etc.
I'd love to hear your input here, or you can vote on the official poll I created at http://www.teengravid.blogspot.com
Thanks for your help!

5. Bethany1202 (2178) | 5 months ago | I like the name Sophia Leigh best. Have you tried looking online at baby-naming sites for ideas? Perhaps they can offer some names you might not have considered for a middle name if you are still looking for more options. Best wishes for you and the new baby!

I chose a name for my son but my husband wanted Alexander on the birth certificate, I just wanted Alex. So we named him the long name but only ever call him Alex. This was fine until he started school and his teachers kept on calling him Alexander which confuse him. I ended up going in to say his name his just Alex.
Anyway, I like both names but I think if you want the female version of Lee then it is spelt Leigh.
Good Luck with the birth of your baby.

8. SurveyPrincess09 (183) | 5 months ago | Hello Iheartblogging!
First of all I want to say a big "CONGRATULATIONS". A baby brings such happiness and smiles to our faces.:) I am so happy for you. Now, as far as the names you have chossen, I did a little search online and this is what I came up with.
1. Sophia, Sophie= Origin -Greek and the meaning is "Wisdom" 2. Ann, Anna= Origin -Hebrew and the meaning is "Gracious" 3. Leah= Origin -Hebrew and the meaning is "Weary" 4. Leigh= Origin -English and the meaning is "Field Meadow"
Now, check this out. You can even name her "Lee", because it is a unisex name the Origin -English and the meaning is "Field Meadow".
I hope this helped a little in making a decision. Good Luck!
Take care my friend and happy mylotting!:)
Olivia~

10. MissAmie (579) | 5 months ago | I really like the name Sophie. I see what your dad means by a "real" name, but (no offense) it's not your dad's kid. Your parents chose your name and honestly, it's one of the hardest choices you make as a parent. If you decide to go with some variation of Lee, I would choose Leigh. That's my personal favorite. But you're right...the vowel sound at the end of Sophia doesn't flow well with Ann. But then again, the more I sit here and repeat it in my head, it could work. With one of my kids, we still hadn't chosen a name when it was time to leave the hospital. We thought we could just fill out the birth certificate later. ha ha. But they made us do it before we left. Her middle name ended up being the name of the only other lady in the maternity ward. It was a beautiful name...Alise (first name Madeline). My other daughter is Amelia Kate. I like how those 2 names go together too. Good luck with everything! The birth, the naming, the not sleeping. ha ha.
