Mouse flavour |
|
Hiya My_Cat_Lover_Lotters
After watching a piece of local news it made me think of why there isn't a mouse flavoured cat food. Do cats actually eat the mice they catch? In all my years of having cats I must admit I never ever saw them eat their prey. Mice are caught in mouse traps every day, so where do these mice go? Or how about sparrow flavour? Do you think cats would eat that? If you could create a cat food recipe what would be in it?

Novel idea. This is a matter of flavor only whereas people are moving to the moon to live the rest of life.
But beware cats are quite catty. very shrewd and to befool them you have to go for a brainstorming session.
I would if I were to make some would prepare mice shaped biscuits.

4. MissAmie (579) | 5 months ago | My guess is it tastes mostly like chicken. Is it bad to admit I've eaten squirrel...it tastes exactly like chicken. I grew up in the country, we ate all kinds of weird stuff. No mice though.

MissAmie (579) | 5 months ago | It was really good. My great aunt cooked them and made mashed potatoes and gravy to go with them. As far as if they were gray or red...probably gray. I didn't actually kill them or even see them dead. I was a kid and they fed them to me BEFORE telling me what I was eating. ha ha.

6. paula27661 (5567) | 5 months ago | I wonder...I know that cats are not all that keen on milk which is contrary to popular belief. Perhaps felines just enjoy catching the mouse and not so much eating it. I am not sure though because my two cats are indoor cats and thankfully I have not seen mice around the house; one of them did try to attack my bird once and thankfully got stopped in time. My male cat would love cat food made of broom bristles, wool and grass!

7. ShirleyBillingsley (898) | 5 months ago | Some cats actually do eat their prey. I have bobtails, that have no problem with running down something, and then eating it. Of course, they are not the typical cat either. My sister watched as her long tailed cat, played with the catch of a mouse. He never did eat it, just played with it. I guess it all depends on the cat. I feed mine cat food, and food from the house as well, when they need the extra protein or nutrition.

8. AngryKittyMSV (1878) | 5 months ago | I had a cat, Little Kitty (greatest cat who ever lived, RIP) who used to eat the mice she caught, she also ate the rabbits she caught. She used to kill squirrels but for some reason never ate them. She'd catch birds and eat them as well. A friend once told me that in Europe that have rabbit cat food, which I know my Kitty would have LOVED. My cats that I have now don't eat their kills, unless it's bugs, they just torment the poor mice until I am able to rescue them or they die. One cat, Lily, likes to run around growling at the other cats with the poor dead mouse hanging from her mouth, but she doesn't bother to eat it.
Like another responder, half my cats are "plastic addicted" meaning they go nuts for the stuff even though it's "not for kitties".
My cats would like a food that is "people food and catnip". LOL

9. Margajoe (2140) | 5 months ago | Hi Alice! How are you? Hope you are doing well.
I must admit, I have seen cats play with mice, but never seen them eat it. I think that is because they get food from us. If the cat is really hungry, he will eat it. Like wild animals, cats. As for the bird part. I had a cat, that was so sick. He could not eat anymore. I had gotten him out of an animal shelter. Only had him for about one month. A simonies cat. They are normally very skinny. But he was too skinny. I took him home and at first he ate little bits. He would lay beside me when my husband left for work. He was so nice. One day he just could not eat. I remember the lady at the shelter telling me he loves Chicky's. So, I did what I never thought I would do, and bought some. He eat those, but only lasted a week. I brought him back to the shelter and they said he was healthy, they should all look so good. WEIRD! Poor thing could not eat. I brought him to a normal animal doctor and they tried to save him, but it was too late. I had to put him to sleep, or he would have starved to death. It was years ago, and I still feel sad about it.
