Les Paul, Father Of Electric Guitar, Dead At Age 94  

News like this is very sad indeed Les Paul was a genius. His developments in both guitars and multi-tracking of tapes helped produce music that was groundbreaking. Yep, he was truly a "guitar hero:

He was a remarkable performer, and an outstanding musical innovator. Many of the techniques that he developed in multitracking, echo chambers and the like later became standard practices in the music industry. And of course his contribution to the development of the electric guitar was extremely significant.

While we may mourn his death, we should remember the contributions that he made, and we should add that to reach the age of 94 is, in itself, another achievement.

I saw this on the news while ago... man. My son used to have a Les Paul guitar. Hed was the man.... with the guitar!! Definitely an icon in music!!

yes, we do. lost a rap star and an icon for countries democracy. i understand the loss, but you know as long as they are remembered i don't think they will die because the legacy...will live

He will be missed! The electric guitar is one the best inventions ever made and has allowed countless people to express themselves and touch others. Yes, it saddens me when yet another icon of my life is gone. I think I'll go play my guitar for a bit now.

I was only today watching a documentary about Joe Strummer, the lead singer of The Clash and it was amazing to come to realise what an effect he had on people's lives. Many musicians share such a status, yet so many of us fail to look beyond the music itself and acknowledge their impact on society. I'm ashamed to say that Les Paul is not someone I knew anything about, but from the information you've provided and from other references I've just found, he sure was an icon to say the least! RIP Les Paul and may he ROCK ON in Heaven!

I remember him from the fifties, if it's the same who made duets with Mary Ford. I didn't realize he was so talented.

Hey Lamby~ Yes, I am so sorry that Les Paul has died. I do
know what an incredible guitarist he was! And also what a
huge innovativation he made in the musical field, especially
where guitar is concerned. He led a long and accomplished
life and will definitely be sorely missed. I have followed
his career since I was very young. He really was quite an
amazing musician! May you rest in piece Les and enjoy that
great Rock N' Roll Band in the Sky!
