I went up to see my parents to help mom clean her house because they're having company come down Friday from where my parents used to live, 4 hours away and their company will be staying over night leaving on Saturday. While there, mom said she was going to keep it and wait till my birthday but I'm old enough to have it early
(gee, I know I'm getting old!
) They gave me a beautiful silver necklace made by Avon that has a ladybug pendent with it wings spread out like it was in flight. I sooooo love ladybugs because it's my nickname that my granddad gave me as a child and it's stayed with me ever since. Every time I see a ladybug or a train, it always reminds me of Granddad. Always has and I guess it always will. I sure do miss him. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised and of course I thanked them and gave them both a great big ole hug!! lol

That is what I call a thoughtful present! Well Cats or should I say Ladybug I do hope you have a lovely birthday and I can see why you love your lovely gift. You must feel the way I feel about cats with your ladybugs; I have so many cat ornaments and cat mugs around the house but the most special is a gold cat which I wear around my neck. So from my gold cat to your ladybug have a great birthday!

LOL Thanks paula! You know, like you, I have a lot of kitty cat figurines and coffee mugs too!! I LOVE cats just as I do ladybugs! I have a wall picture that has a number of cats on it and it says "One can never have too many cats" (My hubby contests to that.... lol)and I have a door hanger that goes along the top of the woodwork that I got from Avon a while back. lol I love cats and dogs as well as all other living creatures except for spiders. BLA!! lol

Your parents love you, they just have a hard time showing it. They remind me of my mom sometimes, hard nosed and stubburn. I have been following what has been going on with you, your parents, brothers, nephews, etc. Your a good daughter to them.

That cake looks so yummy!! lol Thanks!! Sometimes I wonder about my parents loving me for real or not. I really do wonder or is it that they like to torment me and then reel me back in again. If you would, read the response above yours by two and know that we've given them $2500. and later another $1100. then you'll see what I mean by that.

Thank you so much!! Yes they know how much my granddad meant to me as well as my grandmother. If only we could turn back the hands of time and spend more time with them but we can't but I know I'll get to see them again when my time comes but I can wait. lol I have too many fur babies right now to leave this world. lol

OMG, my grandmother was the BEST!! She defended me to no end and even covered for me when I had an accident with my boyfriends car which at the time I didn't have even a learners permit!! My parents found out about it anyways but they couldn't get to me because I was living with my grandparents. lol I do miss them something awful.
I had to go to my parents house yesterday alone because hubby has so much work to do here so he stayed home. Needless to say, it was VERY stressful for me to do it but I promised her that I would help and so I did but when I got back home, I was so exhausted that I went to bed at 11 instead of 2am like I usually do. They have no idea what stress they put on me. However, the visit was right nice and mom had most of the work done. All I needed to do is vacuum, scrub and clean her fish tank which I did. She thanked me up a storm and I told her that she doesn't need to thank me but she said "I mean it. I really appreciate everything you do for me" Which is really nice to hear but a far cry from what she and dad has said in the past month or so. The comment was "I didn't ask anybody for any money" and "I won't ask anybody for any money" and the other one is "I didn't ask for anybody to help us" and "I won't ask anybody to help us" WTF?? So much for gratitude!! So we decided that if they need help, they're going to have to ask and that's why we didn't call them for a while nor have we gone up to see them in weeks. Mom told me weeks ago about these visitors coming and I told her then that I'd have her house cleaned before they come then her and dad both said those things days later and that's when we decided not to go up there anymore. Then talking to mom on the phone, she tells me about her visitors coming and how she's got this and that done already bla bla bla and that's when I asked her straight up, "Do you need my help?" She was hesitant about it but then she said, "Well yeah, I'm going to need someone to vacuum and scrub for me because I can't do it" That's when I told her "I promised you that I'd help and I will" and then I asked her why is it so hard for you to ask for my help? She said she hates to ask anybody to help her for she'd much rather do it herself and I told her that she can't anymore and has to ask besides, I'm her daughter that she shouldn't feel that way. She didn't say anything after that. I mean, how would ANYBODY feel if they were told that after all the help they've given their parents? HURT, VERY VERY HURT, that's how. Hopefully they now realize why we haven't been up there and will start to change their ways. They're learning that we don't need them, we want them in our lives but we don't need them.
I'm thinking too that she got me the gift because she does love me and does appreciate my and hubby's help and is maybe trying to rectify things, I don't know but it's a GOOD start! lol
My birthday is the 26th of this month but my anniversary is first which is on Monday the 17th! It'll be 18 years! Yippee!! My parents anniversary is the 15th and it'll be their 55th! And yes, you can call me Ladybug!! LOL

Good morning ladybug, U have such a hard time accepting the fact that your parents are just the way they are & no matter how hard u try to please them it's just not going to happen. i don't mean to hurt your feelings & i have told u this many times the sooner u accept that the less stress u will have over them. As i have told u been there done that. Think about yourself more & what u have to make u happy , u are not going to change your parents.

They certainly sound like they deserved those hugs, and many more. What a wonderful, thoughtful gift. I love it when people think like that, and do something that is so special to the recipient. It was the same with me a couple of years ago, when I gave my husband a Russian cookbook that he really wanted, for his birthday. He was really happyy, and I'm glad you're happy.

Hi Cats,
First of all, Happy Birthday in advance! Secondly, that gift is SO THOUGHTFUL! I can see your face when you saw it. Gifts like that mean more than anything else, when they're somehow directly associated with us. I received a gift like that a few years back... three of them, actually. When I was little, my parents couldn't afford to get me a genuine Barbie doll. Every other girl my age had Barbie dolls and I felt awful because I had to have an imitation (they cost less). The last Christmas my mother and stepfather were alive, they surprised me with three... not one but three... original Barbie dolls from the 50's, still in their original boxes! Before I opened the box, my mother asked me what it was that I wanted more than anything when I was young and I immediately said, "A Barbie doll". They both smiled. It was then that I knew what was in the box, even before opening it. I was so surprised to see three of them in the box! That had to be the best gift I could have received, just like your Ladybug necklace.
So, should we be calling you Ladybug from now on?

Thank you!! My birthday isn't till the 26th but like mom said, I'm a big girl and can handle getting my gifts a wee bit early. lol
She said that when she saw it in the book, she just had to get it for me. She knows how much I love ladybugs. My ATV is red and I hate that color (I'm weird) let me tell you why. When I was dating this guy, we had red EVERYTHING! My truck was red, his truck and land cruiser (box car) was red, and his boat was red. I got so sick of seeing red so much that I've come to hate it. lol I told hubby that I'm going to find some round black stickers and put it all over my ATV where it's red so I'd love the color of my ATV then!! Hey, we've got to get creative sometimes, huh? lol Now with you and your barbies, that was really thoughtful of your mom!! I bet it bothered her a lot knowing you wanted the real thing but she couldn't afford it. I remember one time, now another story here, my parents used to take a load of unwanted things to the mountains to a friend of ours and this lady would sort it all out and divide it between all the poor families that she knew of. We'd have loads and loads of stuff to take to her at least once a month. People all over the place would constantly bring things to us to take up there. One time she took us to see this one really poor family and what I saw I'll never forget! One little girl was outside playing and she had a headless doll that she carried around everywhere she went. I felt so sorry for her and wanted to get a real doll for her but I was so young and there weren't any stores nearby so I couldn't do anything about it. The father was never around, I don't know his story but the mother had a house with one huge room and the beds lined up against the wall on each side and the kitchen stove was straight ahead. They didn't have a table to sit at and had one other room which was the bathroom. I'll never forget it. By now the little girl is probably married and has kids of her own. It's hard on people especially when they have kids and are poor.
You can call me what ever you want dear!! Ladybug has a nice ring to it!! LOL
