Where do you shop for all of your healthy foods?
Maybe it's an organic grocery store, whole foods, or maybe even just the regular ol grocery store.
I'm curious because recently my husband and I move to a new state. In this new town we have a local, organic grocery store. I've been tempted by it since we moved here! Well finally today I went in to check it out. I couldn't believe how HIGH the prices were. My husband and I are both professionals and sadly I don't think we could ever afford to grocery shop there.
The thing that got me was that I saw several items that the regular grocery store sell for less than half the price!! It's unfortunate because I'd love to shop there the prices just aren't at all reasonable.
Unfortunately that was our only option for healthy/organic type grocery stores.
I LOVE Trader Joes. Their products are great and so reasonably priced. Unfortunately we have one NO WHERE near us!:-(

I would probably just shop at the grocery store if you ask me - it's unfortunate that you can't support your local economy by shopping at the local organic place, but what can you do? If you can't afford it, you can't afford it. I really like shopping at Rainbow foods (a local, big chain grocery store) and they actually have an OK selection, too.

YES You may right some chain stores also selling the organic foods which are best in quality as well as in prices too, most of the chain stores like careefour, pick and save, Lal's, Cooperative., all the very big chain stores and selling their products with good price and also we can find all the ranges too. Most of the organic foods are very fresh here and can pick them from this store with good price.

2. virusxtreme24 (715) | 5 months ago | To save money, I just go to my mom's vegetable garden. If not, I like going to this little market called Fresh & Easy. It's not big like a supermarket, it just has the basics like fruit, dairy, snacks, and meals to go. It's very convenient and I stop by when I come home from work.

webearn99 (314) | 5 months ago | That's the spirit! I know from my experience that most of these "Organic stores" are a scam, over pricing and also sneaking in some regular one's as organic. It is good that you want a house with a garden. go for it! as soon as possible. There is nothing like your own product on your table.

Binthu (3420) | 5 months ago | YES Absolutely right, all the organic stores selling their products in high prices and also it is not at all possible to buy from them, so better to have the own garden and to make our own products, in order to enjoy the life without more expensive, most of the small grocery or shops they are selling their products in nominal prices and also hey are quality one. So better to visit to the small places and find the right products with good prices.
Have a nice day.

6. creationsbyrobin (1821) | 5 months ago | Whole Foods is pretty good. They get a great variety of organic produce, local produce and a nice variety of organic food to choose from.
Other options are to see if there are any local farmer's markets... locally grown produce is very fresh and some much healthier than produce that was picked early and ripened while traveling cross country. You can also speak with the people selling the produce to see how they grow their products (I've found that most do everything possible to grow organically and many just don't have the organic certification). Check you local food stores for organic foods also, you may be surprised at what they offer.
Good Luck!

8. Downwindz (391) | 5 months ago | I just go to the local supermarket, i believe that vegetables can also be healthy just because they dont have a label saying ecological/organic. Especially when it comes to vegetables it is just a sign that they have gotten natural fertilizer from cow/pork/chicken instead of a regular fertilizer, and they contain the same things. And ofcause you know they havent used pesticides/herbicides on the field. But thats it.
Though my local supermarket also have a large selection of biological foods, which i choose between especially when it comes to meat, then you know that the cattle has had large fields to walk on, and the chickens havent been in a small house with no room for movement.

| 9. jaggiking2001 (92) | 5 months ago | I prefer to shop my healthy foods from the registered shops by the respective state departments. I need to be very caution on the health aspect. I usually buy once in a week in the registered shops and store in to the particular period of time.

10. hotsummer (2756) | 5 months ago | i just buy in local supermarkets. in any supermarkets. they also have healthy foods. i don't go look for any more in health food stores as i used to . cause health foods are popular now and that they are carried in local supermarkets. like oats cookies, brown rice, vegetables, soya milk and fruit and natural juices. and so if we do some research on what our supermarket are selling we will be suprised that they are carrying enough healthy products around. and so though it is quite expensive too as those sold in health food stores. i find it more comfortable to buy in the supermarket. i have not eaten any red meat and pork for more than 2 weeks now. i eat chicken sparingly. i am more into health foods. and oats basically. so i think what i need to buy for a healthy lifestyle are offered or sold in my local supermarkets or any supermarkets that are big and popular.
