Living an Unplanned Life? |
| |
| Do we want to live an unplanned life? The Chinese have a saying for this: "Wait to eat,to sleep and to die!". People who have their lives planned out normally lead more successful lives. They are achievement-oriented and know what to focus upon at each stage of their life. They know which course to study at the university. They know what kinds of jobs they want to get into. They plan when they want to wed and when to have children. They save and they invest. And when the children grow up, they plan for the success of their children. For many of us, we do not have the benefit of wise counsel. We are drifters in life. We operate within the circumstances of what life gives us. We are under-achievers and we are somehow contented with that. If your life have been planned for you or you have been given wise counsel on what to study and what jobs to take, do you think your life would be so much better today? Do you regret what has happened in your life? Let us discuss. | | | | | |

| | Yes, I feel regret what has happened in my life.. I have plans of my own but no one in the family really guided me. It started when I was in college. I wanted to take up dentistry but my parents never said anything about it. My relatives, well, they've discouraged me saying I can't do it. So I ended up taking a course that has nothing to do with my interest. But I still did my best and made it through college. After I graduated I planned to work related to my course but my parents had me took care of the family business instead. I spent my young years taking care of the business and now that it's close I have nowhere else to go. I can't apply on a good company because of the age limit. Sure I have jobs, but they're just part-time jobs. But I figured, if maybe my parents talked to me about what I like to be when I grow up, I might be in a different place today. | | | | | | |

| | If you are still go young, you can make a u-turn and start on the correct path. But for many like me, time is not on our side. We have slogged so hard and yet we make bad decisions and that has affected our life's chances. For me, I do harbour some regrets. I also feel I am not that lucky in whatever I do. | | | |

| | More successful????? I guess that depends on how you define success. Life is about learning and growing as people. Success is when you learn the lessons God has for you!! Give love and kindness to everyone you meet! Help those you can and encourage those you can't! You will be a success not matter how much money you make!!!! | | | | | | |

| | Yes, I do not dispute success should be defined as achieving the ends you seek for.Success in a general term here meaning to achieve an observable worthy standing in society, be it in work or in material attainment. I have not included the spiritual dimension because I think to be positively successful, the dual elements of morality and spirituality are corollaries.I do subscribe to universal values as enshrined in all religions.Thank you for your sagely comments. | | | |
