what's better win xp or vista ? |
| |
| well everybody has his /her own likings . some say vista is better while others are of the openion that xp is better . i prefer win xp media center edition for use . it provides me with all the good services of win xp whereas it is devoid of problems of vista such as high g.p.u. requirement . well i have actually tested both xp and vista in a very prctical way . i took 2 identical computers and in one i used xp as the os while in the other i used vista as the os . now i logically compared their functioning . i found that xp was better in showing good performance in the field of office work , vista took more time for boot as well as for shutting down . other jobs in vista were a bit slower than xp but it has to be considered . vista was really good in showing visual effects . now i prefer xp still . but i keep using both xp and vista in my two seperate machines , one for high speed performance and the other for visual show-off performance . | | | | | |

| | Hello friend, Vista has got its own advantages. The thing I like most about it is the faster browsing options in the windows explorer. to add to that you have a search box on the right hand top of each windows explorer window so you do not have to separately invoke the search client for customizing your searches. The aero feature is a bit of a show off, as it doesn't really add much of utility. the demerits would be the huge space that Vista occupies.. XP really scores when you are talking about getting your job done quickly. Vista takes up a lot of time to boot. I guess the best performance would be if you have 2 GB Ram with vista.. if you have anything else, go for XP. | | | | | | |

| | I use two OS in my PC. both are designated for certain tasks. For my video editing tasks I prefer windowsXP. For faster file transfer, internet and gaming, I prefer windows Vista. Our difference is, my Vista boots and shuts down faster than windowsXP. Do you have enough RAM? WindowsVista is also good at security, easy user interface, file navigation, faster file transfer, games and going online. WindowsXP is good for video editing and basically running outdated programs. I think software compatibility issues is another factor to differentiate the two. | | | | | | |

| | Vista had many bugs when it first came out. XP didn't. However, Windows 7 will be coming out soon and XP will no longer supported. Plus to upgrade to Windows 7, you must upgrade to Vista first. (See my oter discussion under XP.) From what I understand from an IT friend of mine who has a beta version of 7 (and from magazine reports), 7 will not have the problems that Vista had. | | | | | | |

| | Hi dread, This is a no brainer. Every single user of Computer will blindly say it is XP. That is why even Microsoft is shutting down further production of Vista | | | | | | |

| | some people will say that they like XP even though they haven't tried Vista yet. I've tried both Vista and XP. Although, XP performs faster, i'd still use Vista though. I haven't experienced any BSOD in that OS. Vista maybe a resource hog but if you've configured/tweaked/customized it correctly, then it should perform much faster. but now with WIndows 7 lurking around the corner (and i've tested the RTM version of it), i'd go with Windows 7. | | | | | | |
