Did you ever fall for a character in a book? |
|
Have you had this feeling? Who and What book? I have the tendency to really admire the person because the author really made the character perfect.:) LOL

1. thea09 (5015) | 5 months ago | Hi 0811mg, well in my teenage years I must admit to a bit of a swoon over Heathcliff and Mr Rochester, 'Wuthering Heights' and 'Jane Eyre' respectively.I grew out of that a long time ago but certain characters remain fascinating and welll portrayed. I will always appreciate Deflores from 'The Changeling' and 'Maslova' from Tolstoys 'Resurection' and Therese from Zola's 'Therese Raquin'. There are certain characters which just fascinate and are unforgettable, and most of them have flaws.

thea09 (5015) | 5 months ago | Never. Is this getting spookey or what? All of them or Heathcliff and Mr R.I loved the dark brooding baddies always, so much more interesting. If you haven't come across Deflores you must read 'The Changeling' by Middleton and Rowley, Jacobean horror at it's best and set in Spain no less. Sandra get your camper van down here, we are so going to get on. (I'm flagging you know - that discussion I started is creeping up to 50 responses and I just had a nasty one on).

2. rosapai (116) | 5 months ago | That was years ago. I mostly fall in love with characters that portray how they could be thoughtful and will do anything for the girl they love. Dreaming someday, my prince would come and carry me away... guess daydreaming don't come true. I don't usually remember the author and the name of the character.. I would just imagine I am the heroine and change the male's character to whom I am infatuated with. Now, I don't read love stories anymore... Although I remember the author Penny Jordan and a male character name Jago.

4. Weirdology (412) | 5 months ago | I love Severus Snape, Lord Voldemort, and Lucius Malfoy from Harry Potter. I used to have a crush on Draco Malfoy too when I was 11-13 I think. But then he started to annoy me. I also love Valek from Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder.

6. dorannmwin (2560) | 5 months ago | I can't say that I am actually in love with the character, but I am in love with the concept of the character of Edward Cullen in Stephanie Meyer's Twilight Series. The fact that a love can be so pure and everlasting is one that I don't think will ever happen, but it is definitely something to strive for. To have a partner that would be so perfect in every way and know that when you said "I do" it would really mean forever would be such a wonderful thing.

7. jlamela (2828) | 5 months ago | When I was still a teenager I am super emotional and got carried away with what I read. So most of the time I wished I was the girl in the character because I like the man in the story. One time I read a romantic book, I forget the title but it's all about getting a second choice for a wife.
It was a beautiful story about falling in love unexpectedly, the man was described as an almost perfect gentleman, owner of a big company and very gentle and polite, then he was rejected by his sophisticated girlfriend while engaged. To save face from his elite circle (because he was expected to get married)he scrambled to find a wife, then he turn his eyes to his simple and innocent pretty secretary, and the rest is history.lol!
I super love the twist of that story and slowly I fall in love with the character because it was told in a very wonderful way that it sounds so realistic.
Right now, my preference in books had changed, I am more on non-fiction/self-developmental books.

0811mg (488) | 5 months ago | It is funny that authors would make the characters very perfect and the readers would totally admire them but in real world? They don't exist. LOL. But then, you can't just fight the feeling of admiration especially if it is well described.:)

9. hmfryklund (345) | 5 months ago | Oh man, for sure! Almost every book I read, I am in love with the main male lead role in the book! lol Most of the books that I read are written by females, and they make men sound too perfect, and they "understand" women, which we all know isnt true LOL, and yeah, an example would be the TWILIGHT series, gotta love Edward Cullen!!!!

10. eileenleyva (821) | 5 months ago | I did... heels over head... many times. I fell in love with the Count of Monte Cristo and his vengeful ways. I locked D'Artagnan and Aramis together in my heart. I promised to ever be their damsel in distress. I was Lizzie to Austen's Darcy. And many more. Les Miserables made me cry literally but I felt so much for prisoner Jean Valjean. You are correct in your assessment. The authors built their characters so we can relate to them. Have great fun reading. Get Ludlum. You're in for a treat.
