When I was a teenager I went to St Lucia, a beautiful island in the Caribbean Sea. I saw gently waving palm trees and white sandy beaches. I enjoyed seeing the majestic looking Piton Mountains. I liked seeing the lush green scenery and didn't mind a downpour of rain because it kept it looking so attractive. The local people were so incredibly friendly. The only problem was the mosquitoes.
Have you ever been to an island in the Caribbean?
If so what was it like there?
If not which of the Caribbean Islands would you like to visit?

I've yet to visit the Caribbean, but My Fiancee has Family on St Thomas in the USVI,so I'd like to visit there with Her..And a French speaking Couple I worked with are currently living on St Martin.I've seen photos from there as the International airport's runway is famous,as it requires pilots to touch down just Metres inland from the beach,so there's people sunbathing with Jumbo Jets almost close enough to touch passing overhead, and I'd like to see that!

You have just rekindled some dreams I've had for many years, max. Unfortunately, unless I win a lottery along the way, they will just remain dreams.

Hi Maximax, I've never been to a Caribbean island and I don't think it would be a top choice for me, I really dislike the sound of those hotel complexes where people eat and drink what they want and wear a bracelot and they seem to be taking over in some places. Horrors, plus all that organised entertainment.
When I was in the UK though I was good friends with a woman whose family originated from Nevis, and she sometimes went back for a holiday and the pictures did look tempting. I think that is one of the more exclusive islands which has managed to escape the current trend of development of hotel complexes.
