what is the worst job you ever have had? email this discussion to a friend?

I would say the worse job I ever had was planting trees on the highway for a job called CETA..or weed eating on the highway.

When I was in school, before graduating high school there were government jobs provided for pre-high school graduates..

I never did like outside work..for prolonged times since the sun makes me sick..

What you; what is the worst jobe you ever worked.

OMG, the WORST job was being an inventory auditory for RGIS. You have a calculator machine on your hip, and you have to count things in stores, and enter skews, scan things, the hours are horrific, and the pay is worse - NEVER do this job!! Thankfully, I was like 18 or 19 at the time - that's the time when you are supposed to have horrible jobs, lmao!

myLot reputation of 93/100. littlefranciscan (4678)   ranked 260 out of 35,119 in people  4 months ago

Sounds like that was quite a tryig job.. Some people might love such a job..Do you love the work you are doing now?

Yes and no - I am a caregiver for people on hospice. It is rough work, but rewarding because you know you truly are doing good for someone else. It is really making me think a lot about getting into working with autistic children. My son has autism, and I think I'd really like to be helping these children in the earlier years of their lives, helping them to grow and prosper, rather than be helping people through their last few months of life... wow, I'm such a downer right now - sorry! lmao

Oh lord, RGIS.. suuuuuuuuuucks lmao! Not at all dependable...

I used to care for the elderly: Hospice work takes much dedication: God bless you for that..It's a job with long term rewards.. maybe not immediately felt ..surely in heaven.

Thank god. I never had a worse job; I always liked the job. I am into teaching and I always liked teaching regardless of the type of students I get to teach. The problem was with politics in my school among teachers. My boss was very partial in my first job and some people just kept praising him and got promotions and salary hikes.

myLot reputation of 83/100. Nikigirl613 (107)   ranked 10,175 out of 35,119 in people  4 months ago

I think that exists in every job everywhere... I despise work politics...

myLot reputation of 93/100. littlefranciscan (4678)   ranked 260 out of 35,119 in people  4 months ago

I agree politics anywhere besides where it should be is a no no ..yet it creeps into work and school and homes and divides and destroys..

The worst Job I had was working at walmart, I hated working there, I took the job because someone at my church, taked me into taking the job, first I stated off in the deli department, I hated that because, the customer were very nasty, then I left that department, and went to the seafood department, that department was no better, still had to deal with nasty customer, it took me getting sick with cancer to leave walmart, I was out on medical leave, and I never came back i work walmart for six years, walmart fired me they did me a favor. sadangrythumbdown

myLot reputation of 93/100. littlefranciscan (4678)   ranked 260 out of 35,119 in people  4 months ago

Oh so sorry about your dreaded walmart job, I have heard that many dislike the treatment and unfairness of walmart as an employer.. But. .what can you do when you need to work; sometimes you put up with things.

myLot reputation of 95/100. Graceekwenx (537)   ranked 2,382 out of 35,119 in people  4 months ago

I guess what makes a job worse are the people you also have to deal with. Had the customers been nicer and polite, i guess you would have probably stayed in that job. I used to work in a hospital and the patients are all kind, it is the co-workers who make the job disgusting. There are some co-workers or officemates who love to gossip around, and this would also annoy me and i would rate that job as terrible. i didnt stay long in that hospital even though i am licensed and skilled. I just dont like the people i work with.

Sometimes, it is not even the pay that you are getting. I dont care if they pay me low as long as they treat me right and with high professional standards.

myLot reputation of 93/100. littlefranciscan (4678)   ranked 260 out of 35,119 in people  4 months ago

I agree.. treatment has alot to do with staying at a job.. Gossiping is truly ugly!

I had an employment education position paid by CET or CETA, I don't remember which. It was learning warehousing techniques for electronic components and included forklift operations. It wasn't too bad.

I worked for one summer for Waco, Texas, whacking weeds in public fields and drainage systems. Interesting story here, from 1977 or 1978 - I was asked if I minded being in a "minority crew." I had no idea what they were talking about and I agreed.
The other members of the crew were African- and Mexican-American (or whatever the current publicly responsible labels are these days.) Yes, I would say that was the worst.

Second place is when I worked for a temp agency, and the client was a small insurance agent. He said typists should be able to take dictation, but I had no training in that area. Fortunately he told me not to come back again, after that first and only day.

And that was fine by me.

myLot reputation of 93/100. zoey7879 (1254)   ranked 4,525 out of 35,119 in people  4 months ago

lol

Careful! I know people who were suspended, fined, and their workplace required sensitivity training because she said "There was a Mexican man standing near my car."

No joke.

myLot reputation of 93/100. littlefranciscan (4678)   ranked 260 out of 35,119 in people  4 months ago

Yes I didn't like the weed whacking in summer with CETA.. They didnt have the electric ones or gas run ones but these ones on a pole that really played havoc on one's back..

It's a VERY tough call between a particular convenience store I once happened at, as well as a grocery store.

The convenience store was located a bit off of the interstate, and was a 24 hour store. During the daylight and early evening hours the clients were primarily business people. In the evening, it was travelers, drunks hitting up food places on the strip, movie goers to the nearby theater, and locals. For those who don't know what a Fuelman card is, it's a fleet issued credit card where the carriers of the card have their own punch pads for their pins in order to be more time/speed efficient. I was running a cash register when a man with a fuel man card came in. I pointed where he needed to scan his card and hit the key - The next thing I know, the man at the main register is accusing me of racism for letting this man use his fleet card (again it has its OWN keypad and transaction space). To make it even worse, this man (who was an out of uniform police officer ffs) came into the store the next day and tried to get me fired. Not once, but twice. Later that week, a man came into my store acting very very strange. I'll save the story on that because it's a bit long, but I became potenitally the last person to see both a victim of a violent crime AND the people who did it, about 45 minutes before it happened. I was working alone third shift. The police came and asked for my store manager to give them the security tapes. When he got there, I was told that they don't run the security recording at night, only during the day! These people were loose for two days knowing that I could identify them.. and there I was with no security camera and no key to lock the doors in case of an emergency. I quit less than 50 hours after the incident....

The grocery store I wont really get into either. It was just a crappy place with illegal hiring practices that was as unprofessional as they come. Unfortunately, equal opportunity law only affects you if you belong to a specific group(s) of individuals and you can REALLY prove it... even then it's hard to get them in gear:(

Any job will consider as a worse job possible if you're not being paid for months while working. I was hired as Internet Marketer. I also did some menial and clerical job around the office as I was the only one that worked there. But I didn't received my payment for months. My ex-boss said he had financial problem. So he did. But then I can't stay for months without money. When I asked to quit, he paid me saying the situation improved and he wanted to pay me little by little. But he was a lying a** as he never did. I quit and apply for my current job. He still hasn't paid me the rest of my payment to this day.

Wow..that sounds rotten..working for free. at a job that really requires much effort and time. I, too, would have quit if this happed to me..Kuddos to you for taking a stand and finding a more suitable job.

The worst job i ever had is my second job. At that time i acted as a foreign trade sales . I was quite new to this working field and i knew nothing about the routines . My boss was very strict with us and scolded me every day. At last i couldn't stand it any more and i quited this job .

Why did your boss scold you daily? Was he unhappy with your job performance or was he by nature a bossy boss?

sadHello,
I will have to say any job that requires, me to stand om feet all day. I used to be a pharmacy technician and a cashier for a department store, and don't get me wrong I liked the jobs that I had, but what made them dislikeful was that I had to stand on my feet, and right to this day I have feet problemssad, they get tired really fast, when i walk of stand for a short time, but now I have my own business and I sit mostly, and I love it s much betterhappy.

I hear you on that one.. I worked in the laundry an 8 hour shift and there was no sitting down.My ankles and feet were so tired when I got home that I had to soak them. I think GOd gave us natural cushion to sit down on when we are tired of standing on our two feet;)

The worse job I ever had was working for my dad. I worked 45+ hours a week and only made $100. On top of that there was always an unreal amount of arguing. Trust me never work for family... Especially your parent when they refuse to listen to anything you say and you can't tell them what to do even when you know what they need to do.

myLot reputation of 93/100. littlefranciscan (4678)   ranked 260 out of 35,119 in people  4 months ago

Yep, they say one way to become distanced from family is to work for them. I am sorry you went through thaat; it's almost like familiy expects you to do that .. work for pennies.. but it's not right.

My first job was when I was in Sixth form, it was to stay for an hour and a half after the day and be a cleaner there. My friend and I decided to do it together, so we would clean a few classrooms, hallway, stairs and the toilets. I didn't mind the grubby bits like the toilets so I tended to do that, but sometimes it was awful.

As it was a school the boys would come in from football and put thick mud everywhere, they would be bleeding from sports and bleed all in the sink and toilets just to make a mess. They would leave poop in stupid places, but my boss said whenever it was like that just tell him and that I shouldn't clean it. Cleaning toilets is bad enough but imagine it being in a school!

My friend ended up joining an drama class so a lot of the time I had to do the whole job (classrooms, hall stairs etc) alone thumbdown

myLot reputation of 93/100. littlefranciscan (4678)   ranked 260 out of 35,119 in people  4 months ago

Nasty. .and to think they did such things.. Some people are very immature.. instead of lending a hand, they make things worse.

myLot reputation of 85/100. Gorjess (1063)   ranked 1,167 out of 35,119 in people  4 months ago

When I arrive at work in the morning the cleaners are just packing up to leave after cleaning for a few hours, the woman in charge said she had to complain to my manager about my male colleagues putting bogies on the mirrors!
So people complain about children but adults can be just as bad..
