How people talk over the phone over hours? |
|
I just couldn't understand how people talk over the phone over hours without hanging up? Especially women, they are the chatty type. My girlfriend can talk over the phone over 1 hour, and I just couldn't do it myself. Maybe I am the less socialize type of person. From my observation, usually Latina women chat on the cellphone the most. At work, during breaktime, or even afterwork. They always on the phone. For men, some are chatty, while majority are not. Only the exception they were talking to their lovers on the phone. One of my male co - worker who always on the phone too while he was at work. So, do you chat on your cell phone alot? If you can talk over hours a day, you might have a unlimit talking plan.

| 1. lordz00 (20) | 4 months ago | ever since, i had problems on spending too much time on the telephone because no one can contact us at home, good thing the call waiting was invented. It made my life a lot easier. I don't know why but i enjoy talking to my friends, i'd rather talk than send countless text messages and not understand each other properly. Now i live in Uk and i have loads of friends all over the place and the only communication we got is through phone, so most of the time i spend talking on the phone. I even had my last relationship as a long distance and that was crazy because the only time that i put my cellphone down is when I'm on the shower. It's either we talk or we text. i guess this is the best way of communication now adays especially if your love ones are from afar. and the good thing is. i have unlimited calls with the same network, so i guess im also making the best out of it:)

3. revellanotvanella (1946) | 4 months ago | I wishI could talk on the phone like that but I cant. I think it has to do with my brothers playing pranks on the phone when i was younger, they would pick up the other phone and be dumb and i kind lost interest in phones, it was pretty embarassing because my friends would call and it was impossible to ever finish a conversation--thank goodness for texting, i prefer that.

4. sk66rc (2244) | 4 months ago | I don't like to talk on the phone in general but sometimes because of my work, I don't have a choice. Once I was stuck on on a conference call for little over 4 & 1/2 hours. I thought I could make it to work on time for the phone call but I got stuck behind an accident & my work ended up forwarding the call to my cell phone. When I finally make it to work, I had to put my cell phone on speaker & plug the phone to an outlet to finish the call. Other times, because I work part time as a translator, I got stuck on a 3 way phone call for work translating manufacturing plant & buyers. That was weird experience. But yes, I have talked on the cell phone more than an hour at a time & it does happen to me more than 3 - 4 times a month & I do have unlimited calling plan.

5. CinderInMySoul (4362) | 4 months ago | im a woman and i hate hate hate talking on the phone! always have, even as a teenager i hated the phone. more than say 5 minutes MAX and im starting to get annoyed. even quicker if the person im talking to is one of those ppl that call me and then really have nothing to talk about and do a lot of "huhuhuh" fake laughing in an attempt to keep sound going. that damn laugh grates on my nerves.
when i have to call someone, i call ask the question or tell them the news and then say "Ok thats all i was calling for talk to you later bye!" click. i dont want to know what you are making for dinner, watching on tv or what happened at work/school that in truth is only funny if you were THERE when it happened (these stories usually result in that fake laugh argh!)
even though i already knew this bit of information about my cantankerous self, its just another check on the list of "Reasons why I dont qualify as a People Person" LOL!

6. tintukm (451) | 4 months ago | Talking is believing so many think that and well that's true too.Long conversations are no surprises. There are people to like to keep on the talking even if the other person is interested or not, such sorts of conversations are tough to handle at times because that person may be a friend a stranger or anyone we aren't fully comfortable with.Phone talks have been increasingly noted in places around where there are less people around.

7. mariposaman (2506) | 4 months ago | I am not sure what it is everyone seems to be different. I like to talk for maybe 10 or 15 minutes at a time, with my friends and relatives, but for business I like to get the details done and finished. Speaking too long on the phone eventually can be a waste of time. I am not sure about comment about Latina women as I know very few of them, but yes women seems to talk on the phone a lot more.

8. lazeebee (4525) | 4 months ago | Hi, I am a woman, but I don't enjoy long conversations on the phone. It's very tiring. If it's has to be a long conversation or discussion, I would rather have it face-to-face or use Skype over the internet.

9. strikezero86 (199) | 4 months ago | I've been wondering about that question myself. But I guess, typically, they are just talking about their day, the good and bad parts of it, and just discussing it in great detail. I mean, isn't it the same for when people chat online for hours?
For me, I don't even like talking on the phone, so unless it involves something important, I'm not going to linger over the phone. Besides, there could be other stuff I could be doing.

10. JAG2009 (200) | 4 months ago | This is a favorite pastime of quite a few people that I know - including myself. The most interesting is when you're talking to someone who called by mistake, i.e. it was a wrong number. At times, you just 'click' and the conversation just takes off. But I think it also depends on the mood. I can talk to someone for hours, and then at other times, the same person may call, and I find I have nothing to say. So then we have these painful moments of silence, until the call ends.
I just disagree with the idea of having these conversations at work. It's unfair on your colleagues and unfair to the company that you work for; they are not paying you so that you can spend ages on the phone, having a non-work related conversation.
But, chatting non-stop, especially using a cell phone (easy to multi-task) - is a definite 'yes' in my book:)
