Does it really matter to you where it's made? |
|
When you shop for any item at the store, usually the label or the box tells you where the item made. It could be any countries in the world, Made in China, made in USA, made in Japan, etc, etc. I just wonder if it does matter to you where this item you want to purchase made? This afternoon when I shop, one lady in front of me ready to pay for her items, and she cancelled her purchase because it "made in china". For me it really don't matter as long as the item works properly and there are no product recall on it.

ibuemma (1226) | 4 months ago | You right that we need to keep someone job in this country. It's just amazing though if you really noticed, like one certain brand, the label can be various where it made.
| |
|
|
| oztoo3 (22) | 4 months ago | That's a good point. If your serious about buying home made you have to check the labels. Also sometimes things that you believe are USA companies are often owned by foreign companies, like Japan or something. Guess sometimes its hard to know what your really buying.

agv0419 (2059) | 4 months ago | Here there is still a colonial mentality if the products are made abroad they going to buy if locally made they underestimated their own product. I agree that we should buy our own product to help our economy. Not imported products have a good quality many local products can compete when it comes to quality and durability. Many local products are exported and the sad reality of it they change the country in where it is made because people look also the manufacturing place.

2. animegirl334 (1646) | 4 months ago | it doesn't really matter to me. What matters to me is the quality and the price tag but when I go shopping with my grandmother, she wouldn't buy anything from China even though that's where she's from. She keep saying that the item would be bad if it's made in China and if it is food, it would be harmful. I've also seen the news of the products made in China but I think US would watch their imports carefully

|
ibuemma (1226) | 4 months ago | That's really weird. i knew about some toys that say made in china that being recall because it's dangerous. You grandmother kind of extra careful, maybe based on experience?

I never ever check where its from i think i agree with you, If its someting that i want and it works then who cares where it came from?? Unless you found out it was from a third world country factory with 5 year olds working in it! But you only ever find things like that out when you watch the news.

ibuemma (1226) | 4 months ago | I hate that too, when you find out actually the hand of 5 years old actually made your stuff. I never noticed that too until this aldy in front of me make a big statement out loud at the cash register.

4. babykeka80 (1169) | 4 months ago | Really do no pay attention to be honest with you. I am more concerned about price than who made it. I have a friend though that will not buy if it is not made in the U.S.A. He feels that it helps to keep jobs in the country. I do not have time to worry about petty things like this personally.

ibuemma (1226) | 4 months ago | I'm concerned about the price too instead of where it made. And these day it's actually hard to find that really label Made in USA. Couple times I did found out that Made in USA has better quality.

5. highflyingxangel (8915) | 4 months ago | I prefer buying items when I can that are made in the USA. I personally hate sending all our the jobs from the USA to other countries because it's taking away jobs from good, hardworking American people. I personally think it's crap that jobs are taken from Americans and then people in other countries literally get paid slave labor and work 20 hours a day to produce items that we buy here in America and most of the American people have NO idea that it occurs.
However, that doesn't stop me from buying items that are made in other countries. It's something that you really cannot avoid anymore. It just happens. I just buy what I can but I tend to buy more products and more from companies that are American.

6. akuler (1213) | 4 months ago | Hi ibuemma,
Usually I didn't look at the "Made in ... " label. There are a lot of international/well establish producer going to the 3rd world countries to produce their product because of cost efficiency. If I am looking for a certain product I will look at the producer brand rather then where it has been made.
But for some electronics product, I will look its label. I want to know where this product being made. I try to avoid some products from some countries because of safety reason. Some products from certain countries doesn't have any safety measure at all and it is totally not good. It might be a lot cheaper but it can cost you a lot more if something bad happen.

ibuemma (1226) | 4 months ago | You absolutely right about the electronics. One time I bought the toaster oven, and yes, it so cheap, and it end up caught on fire. I definitely extra careful when it comes to electric and electronics product.

10. 0811mg (488) | 4 months ago | Not really. It don't matter to me. But for brands of clothes or bags, I would make sure that I get the authentic one. Like for example bags. There are branded bags from USA but then the product was made in china or india, etc. It is just that the raw materials are coming from US, for example but it the product was made in different country like china.
| |
| |
|
|
ibuemma (1226) | 4 months ago | I heard about that too, that actually the material come from the origin of the brand, and they just made it somewhere else. When you buy something though, you can tell the quality that you get. And I found a lot of times that if it's made in the original countries it's a lot better.
