| |  Rose, the answer to this is as simple as it gets. Before McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate most Americans had never even heard of her. Of course, there was much interest in "vetting" her! It should be no surprise that the media headed to Alaska to learn what they could about her because THAT'S WHAT THEY DO!!! Barack Obama had been in the public eye for nearly 4 years - at least - when he started campaigning for President while Sarah Palin was a total unknown.
