What type of book you love reading? |
|
I love story books. It is my favorite. In each story that I read, its like taking me to a different place, meet new people, learn their culture, and as if experience precious life lessons. My favorite book is the Bible. It has many stories and powerful at that. It lets us see many things that amazingly we can even apply to our own lives. It is so amazing because this Book has been written thousands of years ago. But every time I read it I always find a relevant lesson to what concerns me now. As I read each story, it creates a special soothing and comforting presence to me. Not just a few times that the story in the Bible changes many of my perspective on certain situations and kind of people... I strongly recommend the reading of the Bible! Have you tried it? Why not today?

beaushell (205) | 4 months ago | I have been reading the Bible since I was young too. And yet until now, as an adult I still find it fascinating. The stories become more real to me than before. Some of the stories I have read before but as I read it again, I still find precious lesson I have never seen before. Reading it is like opening a treasure box, where you get to have new precious jewel again and again. Try it!:)

2. dodo19 (4155) | 4 months ago | I enjoy various genres of books. I'm really opened to different literary genres. However, I'd have to say that the books that I read most often are mystery and suspense novels. They are very intriguing and captivating.

I have read a few stories in the bible thruout time and people have told me recently as I get time read a few stories a day or night from the Bible. I unfortunately have not gotten the time just yet but I am hoping to get some time as soon as possible seeing as I have been told about some great stories this past weekend and I know there are alot of lessons in the bible to be read and learned.

beaushell (205) | 4 months ago | Janet Evanovich, is she russian? Well, I will try to find books written by her. I love Philip Yancey and Max Lucado. If you get across some of their books. It will be great to try them sometime. Yes, the Bible is a great book. It is relevant to what we are experiencing now. You will never be bored reading it. Try the book of Luke for a start.

4. dorannmwin (1717) | 4 months ago | I really like to read novels for many of the same reasons that you have described. I like that when I read a novel in my mind I become a part of the book. I have the ability to imagine what it would be like to be in that situation. It also lets me learn about how other people live without having to be thrown into their lives to feel like I've experienced it. You are definitely right about the Bible though. It is the best story book of all. I don't read it nearly as often as I should, but I really enjoy what I get out of it. The stories are great and I like that there are many different ways that they are written.

beaushell (205) | 4 months ago | Imagination is very much needed in reading books. The more creative and imaginative you are, the more you will enjoy reading. On the other hand, I hope you will find time to read the Bible too. Its amazing how it teaches us so many practical lessons in life and how it can soothe and comfort us in times of need and despair!

5. underdogy (318) | 4 months ago | I used to read the bible when i was young and found it interesting. Sad to say, I seldom read it now. Currently, I am fascinated by mystery and suspense of Sidney Sheldon, law and court by John Grisham and also Dan Brown's writings. You will learn a lot by reading people's culture, tradition history, you name it. Reading will also take you places, a privilege given to the wide reader.

beaushell (205) | 4 months ago | I love John Grisham too. Very crisp and meaningful lines he usually writes. Only a handful of his writing have I not read yet. Sidney Sheldon, I guess I read one or two of his book. Dan Brown's are too controversial to me. I find them hard to believe too. The Bible of all the books I read was the only one that I find real and you can also stand believing on its words. Its weird sometimes I admit, but all the same has the sense of unity. Its amazingly nurturing too.

underdogy (318) | 4 months ago | I agree with you. There is no book that can be at par with the bible. The bible will surely enlighten anyone who has doubts and confusion. The writings there though debated by some is the word of the LORD and for that, I'll keep holding on until my very last breath. People may contradict it and that is understandable coz you can't please nor ask everybody to believe it, but for me the bible is and bible will for the rest of my life, is the very best book ever created.

7. fmpisces (185) | 4 months ago | I am not that big into reading however, I am a member of the local library and take out books to read once in a while. The trouble I have is finding the time - I could be/should be reading when I'm on here! That said, when I find a good juicy book to read I have trouble putting it down. I love all the true life stories, people talking about their personal hardships and how they came out the other side. Stories like Dave Pelzers "A Boy Called It" just tug at my heart strings.

beaushell (205) | 4 months ago | You are very lucky to have a good local library in your area. I wish we have the same here in our place. But I guess that will be a long shot. My husband also teases me when I'm inseparable with the book on my hand.

8. wahmivy (539) | 4 months ago | The Bible is actually a great piece of literature (King James version). I love mysteries (Sue Grafton!) and children's lit, especially Newbery winners. I love compilations of witty essays and short stories too. I really enjoy Peter Mayle's Provence books.:)

beaushell (205) | 4 months ago | You don't need to be a Christian to read the Bible. Like one of our friend says here in this discussion its very informative. You will be surprise to find too many facts on psychology, travel and history all in one book- the Bible. I challenge you to try it...:)
