why is that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham? if teachers taught, why don't preachers praught? if a vegetarian ate vegetables, what does a humanitarian seat?
and in what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? ship by truck and send cargo by ship? have noses that run and feet that smell? park on driveways and drive on parkways? ... only in the english asylum language :)

There are a lot of anomalies in the English language as there is, I'm sure in most languages. I answered another discussion on this same topic. English was obviously not her first language and she couldn't distinguish between the two meanings. Always good to see you jimbo.... (PS: This is the sixth time I've tried to respond.
