Is it OK to eat a cat or a dog?

I think it is fine to eat cats and dogs if you like it. The issue is whether you like the taste of the meat. Men are eating many pet animals and wild animals. So, I don't think there is a big issue with cats and dogs. I don't eat them because usually people in my place don't eat them. If I were in a plac where people eat cat and dog meat, I would have eaten them for sure.

There are many things that belong to a country or region culture. It happens with food. It also happens with marriage ( in western culture it is not used an arranged married yet the amount of divorces is great). Some people eat snakes, some others cockroaches. They are all sources of protein.
I don´t think I´d eat a cat or dog, but I am not sure. I have eaten frogs and rabbits. Who knows. It depends on the circunstances.

Being from the US, it is not only illegal, but inhumane to even consider eating a dog or cat. I understand that it is an edible animal to some cultures, but mine is not one of them. For me, my dogs and cats are part of my family. Even though they are not human, they do have feelings. All animals, domestic and wildlife, have feelings; this is not exclusive to cats and dogs. I feel sad for people who do not understand that concept for they are truly missing the beauty of our world and a true connection with the life and nature that surrounds us everyday. I'm going to go pet my dog now.:)

I think its not ok. because they have the rabbies.In my own opinion its not ok.

For people like me who come from a country where cats and dogs are viewed as beloved family members, the idea of eating cats and dogs is totally barbaric and cruel....I can see though that on the flip side where other cultures such as those that follow Hinduism, the idea of eating a cow, which many people do in non-Asian countries, which is sacred would be equally thought of as barbaric. a lot has to do with one's upbringing and cultural viewpoints, but in my mind, NO, I don't think it's all right to eat cats or dogs. Nor is it right to skin cats or dogs ALIVE as is done in the fur trade in China. (I've seen videos of this being done) While I'm by no means a vegetarian, I've cut down my meat eating to near zilch--in fact of late I've haven't eaten any red meat (from cows) at all. And yes, I do firmly believe that animals in general not only have feelings, but souls too and must be treated with respect

I personally don't eat meat but I am not going to judge someone for eating it or what they eat. In my mind eating a dog is no different from eating a chicken.

well,don't u think a cow,a rabbit or a pig also has feelings just like human?
maybe u think the animals i mention above is far away from ur daily life~~
but they do have feelings like we do ..
i wont eat a cat or dog~it is cruel~
but i admit that it is alao cruel to thoes animals that i eat~~

Of cause i wont eat them.We cant stop people taking the animals into their stomach.I am always wondering why people like to eat them.All i want to say just stop killing them eaten for god sake

HI there. I would not dare eating a cat or dog. I just don't feel that they are for food. But they are pets. Right? But in my country, some people are eating dogs. They make it as a food during drinking session. But I have not heard of people eating cats.

I don't know of any countries that eat dogs and cats and I certainly wouldn't do it. In the US cats and dogs are considered pets and we don't eat pets. Some ppl, like myself, consider our pets as children...we wouldn't eat children either. I can't see any reason that I would ever face that would justify eating my pet or a child.
