r books unneeded?

To answer the first part of your questions I have to say that yes! books are very important. Books are the only reliable source you can find, learn more, and just read a great novel that interests you!
Yes I know with technology today you can buy e-books, and books cut down tree's, and I love the environment, but I would rather have the book in my hand and be able to carry it with me everywhere then have it on the computer. It's more conveniant to me that way.

i guess we still need physical books. not every people have computers and can depend on it and the internet all the time. there are also books that still needs to be published physically, like legal books, law books, etc.

You have a very good point but the trouble is that many people, like me, cannot read too much online. It can effect our eyes and give us headaches.

I suggest that more trees should be planted! In fact the best job I ever had was planting trees in Scotland. I'm always urging people to plant them, even one.

yeah, the more books are republished,the more tree down,but we can recycles materials to make the books.so i would like to read articles on books, you can read whatever and whenever with the books.

It is not easy to read on-line books. Most of us ultimately download and print them on paper.So the tress are not saved in a sense. Recycled paper and sustained forest management may reduce the need to cut virgin forests. As long as we managed all our resources carefully including our tress and vegetation, we should be bale to be environment friendly for a long time to come.

I totallly agree with your point of view that the the lesser the book, the lesser of trees will be cut down which is good for the environment and it helps to fight global warming. i still prefer to have physical book cause it is more convenient to bring to everywhere as compared to bringing a computer along. Also, it is not good for our eyes by looking at the computer for a very long time. So, for me I will still go for physical books, but in my daily life, whenever possible, I will try to make it a habit not to print too much things in order to save papers and also always use recycle paper.

For me, I still like reading books. Reading online makes my eyes not comfortable. But what you said is right to some degree.

Well, its definitely not the same as reading online and actually holding a book in your hands. And of course online you don’t have the entire contents or its difficult to scroll the pages and your eyes get tired too after staring at the screen for so long. However, you are correct in pointing out the environmental part…maybe we can have synthetic paper but then those wont be bio-degradable…so there’s always some problem or the other.

I can never concentrate long enough online and therefore I can never read books online. As regards your envioremental concern, it is true that more trees have to be chopped for books, but then books are books. You can never equate the thrill of reading a book with reading online. And when you are done with the book, you can keep it away or lend it and read it back when you are bored. The story comes out alive when we read books. Try reading them and enjoy the difference.
