Now that is some informative information that I didn't know..About the KFC ad's or the Morman Beliefs. Thanks for the information and I don't know or remember when they took the cigar off the ad's never really seen KFC to much growing up or have a television much.

Umm..the first one that comes to mind, that shocked me, as she was a beloved childhood icon, is the new version of strawberry shortcake. I guess her PR reps thought she needed to change from being the frumpy, lovable little girl who loved gumdrops and playing with her cat, calico, to a "pretty" tween-ager who likes to talk on her cell phone and extolls the value of eating fresh fruit. appart from taking her out of her cute frock and putting her in more modern pants, they also elected to emply some laser treatments to rid her of those annoyingly cute freckles.

I don't think I ever saw that ad, but your discussion reminds me of how they update the appearance of the female icons on food packages such as Betty Crocker or Aunt Jemima. Come to think of it, they have changed some of the male icons, too, Uncle Ben, and until I saw Moss Kendrix's page I had completely forgotten Rastus from the Cream of Wheat box, even though that was a face I grew up with, so to speak.

I never remember seeing him with a cigar, Its probably late when it arrive here or I'm just too busy with his chicken that I haven't notice it. I can't remember too when a ban was implemented in our ads about smoking but I'm sure that was too long ago cause I quit reading those stuff about that long.

I don't remember his having a cigar but if he converted before I was 14 or so, I wouldn't have cared enough to notice. Even after that, the things I cared about were pretty shallow!

One of the indications that our society is on the downturn is the denial of everything it doesn't approve of. Study Communist Russia, China, Korea, etc. When they begin to prohibit what they don't condone, the country begins to deteriorate.
