The Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC) is Wisconsin's "Teacher's Union". For the last decade or so they have been on a constant campaign to drive property taxes through the roof. Wisconsin has caps on the rates each taxing authority can impose, but the organizations with levy authorities is just plain insane.
Each public school district has it's own levy authority.
Through the work of WEAC, a criminal named Gov. Doyle, a Tax & Spend Republican former Governor and legislatures that don't seem to understand the word "NO" when it comes to taxes; Wisconsin is now the 3rd highest overall tax state in the union.
Here's the hypocrisy....
"When counseling members about retirement, I frequently hear comments about moving out of Wisconsin to avoid our high taxes. The purpose of this article is to give some guidance on that topic."
"Which state? The three most popular states with a southerly climate and no state income taxes are Florida, Texas, and Nevada. There are other states that have no income taxes including Washington and Wyoming."
"The worst state was Pennsylvania (51st), with total state taxes of $7,531. New Jersey (50th) was next at $6,715. Third, unfortunately, is Wisconsin (49th) at $6,016."
What publication are these quotes from? What right wing anti tax TEA party org would put the state of Wisconsin in such a bad light to retiring educators?
These quotes come from The Dollars and Cents section of the WEAC website!
That's right, after taxing the people to death here in Wisconsin, WEAC advises retired educators to MOVE somewhere with less tax burdon. They also teach retirees how they can become official residents of other states, but still live here most of the year!
Then there is the candle on the hypocriy cake...
Anytime anyone here in Wisconsin complains about the high taxes, some Wisconsinite will defend them by saying, "What, do you want bad schools, or bad services?"
Here's what WEAC has to say on the subject...
"Are services that much worse in the low tax states? There will be some differences, but some states have other income to replace personal taxes. Wyoming (8th at $2,207), for example, gets huge amounts from the oil industry. However, be aware that fees may be a lot higher in lower tax states, including car registration, garbage pickup, etc."

I was playing golf on our local course several years ago and in my foursome were two school teachers (on their 3 month vacation), by the way they played golf most every day. We had just hit off of the first tee and were walking down the fairway to our balls. The adjacent fairway was number 9 and a school teacher was in a foursome just across from us.
The teachers' union just settled with the teachers board and naturally they approved a raise in salary. One of the teachers in my foursome yelled over to the other teachers "hey, we got our raise didn't we", that's all I thought about the rest of the game.
Supposedly, the teachers went out on strike for the betterment of the students, well that was big lie, they went out on strike for a pay raise and it happens every two or four years.
I was a city commission for 12 years and saw a lot of things that I didn't like happening. I'm of scotch decent and I still have some scotch in my blood. I was constantly having to try and vote down wasteful projects that came before the commissioners.
There was a dispute with a police officer who was coming close to retirement, he asked to meet with the commissioners in closed session and we granted him the meeting. He was of the rank of Corporal and he wanted to be promoted to Sergeant before he retired so he could receive a larger retirement pay. They called this a "spike" in pay. We had a hard time believing what he wanted and turned down his request. He couldn't understand why we turned him down and stated "it won't come out of your pocket" as if we weren't tax payers.
What are some people thinking, all they care about is themselves.

Nothing WEAC does has anything to do with the welfare of kids. Kids are nothing but weapons to be used for leverage.
