I spy with my little eye.... Something beginning with...... "...."

The child then has to guess the word or the object beginning with "...." that can be seen nearby. With very young cildren I also use warmer and colder to let them know when they are getting close to the object that I am looking at/thinking of.

Yes there can be variations of the game. I see that he is refusing to tell you what is wrong, not that he is unable to. I seem to have this habit of thinking strangely, which tells me he is trying his "Adult" act on you to assert his authority.

There are two things a child hears most from time it starts understanding the spoken word. The first is in the thread of "I love you" and the other "No it is not that way". On the child asking "What way?", the usual reply is "You will find out when you are big".

Since you as the grandmother are the softest target he get, he is trying his "Grown up" fantasy on you. You may have noticed there will be twinkle in his eye and a smile when he tells you go to pre-school to find out. You dear lady, are now "Owned" by your "Grown up" grand son.
