- Making unnecessary posts and/or thread
Have you seen those "thank you for the info", "nice info" posts?

- Making advertisement posts/threads
The posts intended to advertise something in places they are not allowed.

There maybe more examples of spamming in forums, and different forums may have different rules, but those are the basic ideas of spamming in forums.

There are lots of ways in which you could spam a forum. I will name a couple of them for you. Posting referral links is spamming a forum and trying to sell something in a forum is also considered spam. I am sure there are more things also.
