What do the christians have against harry potter?

Funny question, it goes against everything the Christians believe. Magic is the Devil's work. What bothers me more is that many christian parents don't let their children ready any Harry Potter books or any type of science fiction books. This time of stuff is important, it wakes the creativity in children. I could go on with this topic forever.

I am a Christian, and YES, I allowed my children to read the Harry Potter Collection. I found that when my children struggled in school with Reading that allowing them to pick their own book to read brought more enjoyment to reading. And reading helped develop their imagination. All we have to do as good parents and Christian's is to tell our children the right and wrongs of the world and of life.

You can raise them to be good Christians and develop their imaginations to become the best adults that they can be.

Christians have nothing against Harry Potter. Nut cases who profess to be christian just cannot abide the idea of witches and warlocks and halloween oh my. It is a story numb skulls.

Not all Christians have a problem with it. I'm a Christian and I love the series. They are all very well written and when I was younger they are what actually got me to enjoy reading. I do remember a time when a lot of Christians that I knew did have a problem with it because it's about witches, wizards and magic. Really what it come down to is being able to understand that the book is fiction and not to take it seriously.

i am a christian and have read and own every harry potter and i think it has a good message for our world as it talks about the fight between good and evil and despite the setbacks enflicted by evil and the sacrifices that have to be made good can overcome evil

I am a Christian, and I don't have a problem with the series. I'm afraid that those who do, don't know what the stories are about, hear "magic" and their minds close, and think that any magic has got to be bad - they probably hate science fiction too - even tho things like rockets to the moon and submarines have come true...

I,m a christian but for me there is nothing wrong with that movie, we do not need to forbid the children to watch harry potter but we need to explain to them about life in movie and life in the real world,do not too cynical look at the movie is still a movie,teach the children that the most basic is taking a good of a movie not the bad:)

As some of the other posters said, most Christians don't actually have anything against the books.
There are some paranoid ones who think anything that mentions magic is evil (including the Dungeons and Dragons game>__>), but the majority of Christians aren't like that.

I mean I haven't heard anything about any Christian having something against Harry potter but now reading this...I mean...what the hell....I was reading the first answer to your discussion hear and apparently it's because magic is the devils work.....I don't understand Christians...I really really don't! For one thing..It is just a movie and no real magic was bloody involved. DUH!

I was watching Christians on YouTube one night with a friend and these Christians were literally hating poor Heath Ledger because he acted....ACTED as a homosexual.....See I said acted twice because Heath was ONLY acting...And still..what the hell is wrong with gays? God those people make me so angry!
