Beside see the movie, do you also read all the books?

Yes I do.. and usually i think the books are better than the movies they are made into. I can name many to justify my point and i do know there are many amazing movies to counter my argument. I have a lot favorite books that got turned into movies. For example, The catcher in the rye, Perfume-Story of a murderer and of course, not to forget The Godfather, Hamlet, The Pianist.

I have seen all of the movies and I have heard about the books. Unfortunately I have not gotten the chance to read any of the books yet. I have been told that the books are very good and very detailed. I hope to at somepoint read all of the books. Happy Mylotting.

i'm presently looking for a copy of The silmarillon since I could now understand it after reading the LOTR.

I so love the way Tolkien wrote the books. It seemed like I was reading actual historical events instead of fiction. Sometimes i find myself wondering whatever happened to the characters after they went to the haven.=)

I've actually read not just the three books but also The Hobbits which is, I think, an introduction to the LOTR trilogy.

I read one book which had all three of the books in ONE giant book. After reading the book I have understood a lot more about the world, but I feel the movies have been made perfectly, minus all the little insignificant and unnecessary details of the books. However, the books are still very good and I absolutely loved reading it.

Yes, although the first movie was what drew my interest in the Tolkien books. At first I only read the Trilogy, then I went on to The Hobbit, the Silmarillion, and then to the other posthumously released books like the Book of Lost Tales 1 & 2, the Unfinished Tales, The Lost Road and other writings, The Shaping of Middle Earth, the Lays of Beleriand, etc., and then eventually moved on to Tolkien's other writings that are not necessarily connected with the Lord of the Rings like Leaf by Niggle, Farmer Giles of Ham, and Smith of Wootton Major (which is my favorite!).

Although I find Tolkien a complicated read. I have read the books and have been meaning to read them again ever since the movies came out. But sadly I have not. I will put them on my list, and get them off the bookshelves and dust them off. It has been more than 20 years since I read them. I might not find him as complex now as I did in my teenage years. Now that they are on the list I should start them before then end of the month.

taking an example of HARRY porter,I watched the movie many times but when it came to reading, ah...I was not able to do so.I said to my self,if I had seen the movie why to read the same content with my unresting eyes.
Better to watch the movie rather reading it as watching hasade work easier enough and quicker too with the special effects too.
