Has reading a book ever changed your life?

I read a lot and all the books I read leave something for me after it is completed, recently I read "London Bridges" by James Patherson and it is a wonderful book as it has a magic inside, when you turn one page you will want to turn again and again and again. Now I am reading "Step on a Crack" By the same author. I feel my life is more colourful and thus beautiful when I read books.

Books have always given me joy and power all the way along. They cannot be replaced by anything. Not long ago, I bought from dangdang.com several books, including The Beach House by Jane Green, The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. I like the feel of books, and enjoy sharing the experiences with the authors.

I can't say the books changed my life. But there are few books that helped me look at life from different angle. rather look at it from the corners I had no idea about.One such book is Little Princess.

Eckhart Tolle is a terrific writer. Have you read his book "A New Earth?" Outstanding book - powerful, insightful and thought provoking!

Any book that guides you toward a more positive attitude is time well spent indeed. Until we recognize it is our own actions and reactions that influence our lives, it is very difficult to change for the better.

Actually yes it has!
When I was very young I was shy; behind in my learning because of problems at home. I didn't want to learn to read much less ever imagined a life of enjoying books.
Still I had to learn so I was in the library with my class one day and the librarian of the school asked me to stay afterward (yikes!) and had me read a few lines of a book....well I couldn't read very well and she was very observant about that.
She asked me if I liked to read and I said no; so she asked me about me. What were my interests, what were my loves. I said I loved animals; particularly horses. She found a book that was just what I wanted to read!
Ever since that time I have been a voracious reader; trying to put about 2 hours in of reading a night since that time.
I have read works of poetry; works of comedy and tragedy.
Shakespeare, Dickens were all read when I was not yet a teen.
Then when I was a young mom; I restricted myself to only reading from magazines due to time constraints....and because I'd never get anything done!
Now that the kids are grown I am back to my very first special love.....books!
