How To Scare Yourself To Death  |

|  This happened last Saturday night at around 2am. It had been raining all night, not hard, just a continuous drizzle. So anyways, the wife shook me awake and told me she heard a noise downstairs, says the dog probably wants to go outside. So I reluctantly drag myself downstairs still half-asleep. But the dog is happily asleep on the couch (he's getting better sleep than me lol) so I mumble to myself and turn to head back up to the warmth of our bed. But then I hear a faint noise as I put my foot at the first step of the stairs. By the way I didn't open any lights because the aquarium is lit up enough to let me see my way.
So anyways I check the kitchen and nothing seems amiss. I check the living room, looks fine. Maybe it's the windows, I tell myself because it's a bit windy outside. So I check the windows that overlook the backyard but they're tightly closed. I turn back and then i hear a faint noise again and I'm almost certain it came from the backyard. So I move back to the window and try to peer out into the darkness. At exactly the same instant that I cup my face into the glass, another face emerges trying to peer inside my house, only the glass separating our faces. Almost simultaneously, I scream and the face let out a scream too. I almost forgot to breathe. hehehehe. By the way, I inherited my house from my grandfather, who built it before the Japanese invaded my city during World War II. It's been renovated a couple of times but guests still swear they see ghosts. So back to me screaming, I dunno if it's a ghost or a real person. So I grab the first thing I could pick up in the living room and open the backdoor, but there's no one in my backyard. But my kids' bikes are overturned and there's a single flipflop lying on the ground near the back fence. Meanwhile my wife who has heard me scream has gone down, looks at me and says "what are you gonna do, beat someone with THAT?" and I look at what I have instinctively grabbed, turns out it was one of my daughters' barbie doll hahaha. Anyways, we called the barangay tanod (community police) and luckily enough they caught a suspicious person running in the rain with one foot missing a flipflop and screwdrivers in his pocket. The face in my window wasn't a ghost after all, just a would-be burglar. It still scared me to death though.

| |  That would have definitely scared me to death as well...but I couldn't stop from laughing about the barbie doll...I'm sorry that part was just funny. But I'm glad that he didn't break in...probably seeing you there scared him as much as he scared you. And that is a good thing the cops were able to catch the guy.
