They have me dx'ed with Fibro. Thing is I think I have RA.

I don't hurt all the time. Like I hurt in the mornings or after activities. Oh and I am getting knots on my hands. They are on the bone.

I have had my Rheumatoid factor tested but it comes back negative. Anyone know if I am correct that it CAN do that if the disease isn't progressed very far?

It's possible to have both fibro and arthritis. And you don't necessarily hurt all the time with fibro. It's possible that you have arthritis, but not RA. I've never been tested for RA, but I doubt that it would have to be very far advanced to show up in tests. Since the knots have nothing to do with fibro, you might want to get another opinion. You didn't say whether you saw a general practicioner or a specialist. That can make a big difference when you need an accurate diagnosis.

It was originally a rheumatologist who dx'ed me with the fibro...based on that one test (no tender point test) at the VERY beginning (less than a week) after all my problems started. I currently see a gp right now.

A point that I forgot to make is that arthritis affects the joints, and fibro affects the muscles. Sometimes it's hard to tell exactly where the pain is coming from. You can find a chart of the tender points online and check them out for yourself. There used to be a certain minimum that you had to have before there could be a fibro dx, but not everybody has all the points. It may take some hunting, but deep pressure will make the points very obvious. They don't feel like any normal pain or soreness. Also, do some reading on the web. A lot more symptoms of fibro have been identified over the last few years.
