Is there any benifit of joining writers forum?

I also joined writer's forum but after noticing that there's no real benefits from them I stop. The only thing you can get from joining writer's forum is the advice and tips from other members, but these tips can be read on in different books and sources and there's no need for you to participate in the forum. So I just concentrate here in myLot, at least I can learn many things here plus I am earning too.

Since I joined Mylot, I have found a lot of good advice in the 'Helium' interest here. I am a member of Helium and I sometimes look on their forum boards, but generally I think time spent on writer's forums is time that could be spent writing. I often look on Helium's 'writing' channel and read the articles there. Not only have I picked up some helpful advice, I often find ideas for my own articles there.

If you have a specific point you want advice on, I would say start a discussion here. Not only will you learn what you need without sifting through pages of posts, you'll also be helping other writers on Mylot. Whatever questions you can come up with, someone else will also be looking for answers, and of course you'll be earning while you learn. Hope this helps.

I'm a member of several writing sites. I don't visit them to get work - I visit them to meet other writers. You can learn a lot by asking questions of writers who earn their living by writing. They give great tips and suggestions for increasing your income or they can also help you to find new ways to earn money from your writing endeavors. The best part of being a member of a writing community is that you can make some great friends who love writing as much as you do.

As with most forums or communities, I find that what I get is in direct proportion to what I give. Those groups where I tend to lurk more than participate offer little value to me, while those where I play an active role are often beneficial.

I generally avoid sites that cover writing in general because much of the information and discussion won't pertain to my writing. Instead, I focus on communities that concentrate on my particular genre (memoir and non-fiction).

I've not only benefited from the tips and advice I've received from members of these forums and communities, but I've also gotten some ideas for articles and stories. In addition, I've made online friends from around the world who have enriched my life.

Finding a compatible writing group is like online dating. You keep trying them out until you find one you can fall in love with.
