What's The Worst Reaction You Have Had To A Spider Bite

The last Saturday in Sept, while watching tv and typing on the computer, I felt something bite my arm. I looked but didn't see anything. In a matter of seconds, I developed a hive at the bite site and, within a few minutes, I had a large area of swelling around the hive. I cleaned the area and applied ice for 15 minutes. Later, I applied a baking soda paste. By the time I went to bed, the hive was about an inch by an inch and a half and the swelling was about 2 by 3 inches.

The next day, I got up to a red, swollen area about 3 by 4 inches. The hive was gone but there was a tiny white pimple at the bite site. By evening, it was even more red and looked like a full blown cellulitis and I didn't feel great. The swelling had increased and was at least half way around my arm and about 5 inches long at the highest point. It felt very warm and itchy but sore at the same time. Though the symptoms indicated a spider bite, being a nurse, I knew that many medical issues could have the same symptoms.

So on Monday, I saw the doctor. I had a nice cellulitis (what I expected)...due to a spider bite. Of course, by the time my appointment arrived, the area looked SO much better (so annoying!) because the redness had lessened. It was still quite swollen though and still had a nice size pimple of infection at the bite site. I was given an antibiotic which solved the problem.

I was bit by a wolf spider once, didn't realize till the next morning. Whole side of body felt weird. Like half of me had the flu. Painful, but went away on it's own

It itches and skin changes color a little. But it never gets puffy and usually is gone within a day. I do not react to most bites or stings. I have held hornets as they sting me and people freaking out, not feeling it or reacting to it at all. Most Bees and bugs leave me alone. I guess they all know that I usually catch them to throw them back outside instead of killing them, maybe that is why the bites do not effect me who knows... other then I have very very tough skin:) so its hard to break through my skin, Most mosquitos do not bite me either. - DNatureofDTrain

I was bitten by a brown recluse on the back of my hand about 2 1/2 years ago. My hand became so swollen that I was afraid the skin would burst open. I've never had anything that was quite as painful as that incident, and that includes having the tip of one finger smashed off working in the oilfield. I had to take antibiotics for 3 weeks to clear it up.

You got bitten by a spider??? Omg!!! that is crazy. I didnt know spiders can bite you. Im glad I didnt find that out til after I left canada.
You have bears, cougars, lynx, biting spiders and mosquitos. How many deaths a year do you have related to animals. In Scotland all we have are deer, foxes and badger and a couple of squirrels. Nothing that would hurt you.

If I was you I wo uld consider moving to another country because you are bound to be eaten or at least attacked by an animal and possibly die from it. That is so crazy!!!
